Want to buy pair of factory iron Stage 2 cylinder heads for nostalgia build on my 1970 GS Stage 1;Any leads greatly appreciated - please PM. Thanks. Would also be interested in any other factory Stage 2 pieces.
Since less that 100 sets of the stage 2 heads were offered 40 years ago as you may already know, these will be very difficult to locate and demand a big price. There was very little material in the valve seat area for rebuilds and many of them were damaged and destroyed by racers. Personally, I would consider a set of T/A stage 2 heads for a project like this when you consider what you get for the money and they would look stock with very little effort and some red paint. You should be able to find an early B4B and a Holley #4781 850cfm carburetor without too much effort and the stage 2 hood scoops are available. Recreating the air cleaner would be fairly easy to do as well, all you need to do is fabricate a metal ring to snap into a stock base assembly. I used a Chevelle air cleaner for my set up also went with T/A heads much easier. They shuold have been aluminum to begin with. On the hottest day of the year the engine ran cool even with the stock rad. I went crazy and made my own steel scoop though very very difficult. Good luck with your search.
I have S2 iron head engine and used all the correct S2 pieces. I can share what I know. Phil 303.587.3054
I will be unable to make it to Bowling Green - however,if one of you guys knows someone with a set of heads,or a friend of a friend,I am willing to pay finder's fee for your trouble. Thanks, again and have a great time at BG.
You for sure need to be for these, right Gary? Hope Richard realizes that... Hang in there Richard...
Just a shot, but call Jim Bell the supercharger man. Maybe he still has a new set hidden away, but they might cost 20K +. There are some guys out there that will never use them and take them to their grave. Post the max you will pay and maybe someone will come out of the woodwork. You won't even get a worthless broken set cheap.
