Hi All, I have some weird questions. I'm swapping the LS4 from a 2008 Buick LaCrosse Super into my '70 Skylark. My mechanic says I have to go with digital gauges to go with the computer system associated with the 2008 engine. So my first question is do I have to swap out the gauges with digital ones or can I keep the original set. The second question I have is, if I have to go with the digital gauges, I like the look of the 1969 gauges that are offered, Does a 1969 Dash bezel fit in the 1970 Dash Bezel slot? I'm also dropping in the seats from a 2018 Buick Regal GS, and hopefully will be able to get their electronics in and working. Any advice for seat swaps from GMA buckets to new seats? Lastly, should I expect any weird complications with the incorporation of the computer systems? thanks in advance for your help!
I believe you could still use the old plumbing T trick and relocate the newer sender for Temp/oil press etc into that, with an old school sender on the other side? Then the computer can be happy and you can have your old gauges? I am speculating as I have no actual first hand knowledge of the engine in question. Also, I seriously doubt that the cluster from one year fits another. They just seemed to change it every year.
69 and 70 instrument clusters will swap with full components. You can have a digital component installed in either the 70 or sweep of the 69 by people who have done it. The seats, anything can be done with a welder. I'm putting in 2000 something MKVIII 6 way lumbar seats in my 69. Ill install heat elements later from 2005 minivan.... Also installed the 2011 buick 18s on my 69 with minor wheel mods. You can do it!
