So I'm working on the Suncoupes interior to get it looking better. I have the white interior. So I attempted to purchase some OPGI white armrest pads and they came in a way different color than the panels I have. I believe they were Restoration Parts pieces sold by OPGI. They showed up grayish/tan color. Anyone know where I can get pure white armrest? And door jamb windlace trim? Then I guess I may have an issue with new and old pieces together not being the same colors. Also my carpet on both the doors and flooring are of a real fuzzy type. Not sure if this is original or not. I'm thinking it's not. Original car color was Cortez Gold and gold carpet. Purchased some used(excellent condition) door panels and the carpet is loop type and great looking on the panels. Who makes a loop type carpet that fits a 72 Skylark good? What's Essex carpet?
If it was mine, I would get new door panels and arm rests from Legendary Auto Interiors. Then I would get carpet from Rock Auto. They had the best price on ACC carpet that I could find a few years ago when I did my interior. Be sure to get material samples from Legendary before you buy to make sure that the match is close enough for you. Lou
Thanks Lou. How did your carpet work out? Did it fit good? Install easily? I currently have the ACC 80/20 loop in my basket at rockauto. The one with the mass backing.
White Windlace (actually, pinch weld molding) https://www.classicindustries.com/product/all-years/plymouth/all-models/parts/ma147202.html I won't talk about the white elephant in the room if no one else does...
I've got them in green out of a 69 Skylark Custom Coupe, that are probably the same as your SunCoupe, for half the price if you want to dye them. $20 plus shipping. ------------------ Eric
Thanks Eric but by the time I purchase some new ones, prep and dye I can purchase new ones. I 'm just wondering how different 45 year old and new ones will differ in color.
The ACC carpet matches the carpet on the bottom of the Legendary door panels. The installer said to get ACC as they were the best. He said he only had to make a few small cuts to get the fit. It looks great installed. Lou
I think ACC carpet is the only carpet supplier for these cars. They have invested and generally they do fit well. I have yet to try the mass-backed but I think it's a smart move.
Sounds like you received parchment arm rests. There are a few different shades of white used from 68-72. You can get pure white.
