So, in lieu of the transition from 2bbl to 4bbl, I pulled my intake. The seal was compromised slightly on both sides, and the heat riser was leaking, could his cause the dual exhaust popping that has been plaguing me? no noticeable hiss of a leak, no change with carb cleaner. Im interested to know why...up next on buick mysteries.

Doubtful. Could have just been a tuning issue. When would it pop? Accel? Deceleration?

You have duel Exh right, so listen at the tail pipe for a mis out of either bank, then once you pin down if it's just coming from hopefully one bank of cylinders then go remove one plug at a time from that bank to see if the popping stops.

If you hear no popping from either tail pipe , but from the Carb then you have a bad Intake valve seat and or burned Intake valve creating a back fire.
This can be also confirmed by doing a leak down test.

The popping at idle can also be from crossfire in the ingition system , be it cap , rotor or wires.

Popping out the Exh during deceleration is caused by excess fuel ( running rich) the closing off the throttle during deceleration makes the Exh temps spike, and the temperature of the Exh gasses get hot enough to light off any excess fuel in the Exh system and the Muffulers are more often then not the main excess fuel collection point .
