I'm replacing all the wiring harnesses in my '64. Several years ago I upgraded to a 105 amp internally regulated alternator, purchased from a forum member. At that time I removed the external voltage regulator and connected a pigtail to the connector formerly connected to the external regulator. Since I am no longer using the factory engine harness can I leave the blue and white wires out? I am not using any of the dash idiot lights.

The new wiring harness has a white alternator "exciter" wire. I assume I can hook this to the alternator and disregard just the blue wire since I am not using the idiot light. Thanks.

Alternator terminal labled 1 is wired to an ignition source to excite the alternator/regulator (if not using indicator lamp). Alternator terminal labled 2 is wired to Battery (+) either directly to the Battery lug on the alternator or over to the horn relay juction buss.

That's what I ended up doing. There is a drawing in the instruction manual to connect the exciter wire to the terminal white wire and jump the blue wire to the battery post on the alternator.
