The '71 & '72 Buick A-bodies came with side terminals for battery cables. Suppose u want to install an electric fan or a boom box and instead of having to purchase a new battery with top terminals or top terminals & side terminals, is there another solution and retain the orig battery style?

But usually, the connection is a solid cable that would connect to the positive post battery connection.
