Have you ever considered in exchange for "supporting the board" (which I need to do regardless) of offering enhanced features for those who do? Two that come to mind:

    1) Increased or unlimited storage of PM's
    2) A way to bookmark threads for future reference (the only way I see to follow threads is to put a posting, but I could be missing something)

    Just a thought...

Under thread tools, you can choose from the drop-down menu "subscribe to this thread".

The bookmark feature is available for all users, and we certainly do have incentives for board supporters. Check the link Chris provided above..

    Thanks

Thanks Jim - Obviously didn't realize that will get you some support. This is such a great resource and it's been nice to be back after a long abscense from the hobby.

I like this idea, a t-shirt with the site logo. Has one ever been created? Could get creative and have different Buicks on shirt…

Could also sell t-shirts as a separate fundraiser for site or another charity, just another idea. Maybe folks would buy multiple t-shirts for Xmas presents, etc.

I think having this board to go to for Buicks is incentive enough to send your financial support.

I probably will do some T shirts at some point, but now we are talking commerce.. not contribution, so that's really a different animal.. but not a bad idea.

    Thanks

It hasn’t been set up as a 501(c)(3) organization as far as I’m aware, so the answer is likely no.

Nope, not a charity.. the board is owned by me personally, and run under TSP for tax purposes.. was a writeoff for years, as TSP was footing the bill to some extent, but lately it's pretty much held it's own financially, which is a nice change of pace.

    Thanks

    JW

PS.. I have been offered mid 5 figures for it several times.. and they really want the email lists.. All attempts at purchase have been rebuffed with a reply just shy of "leave us the hell alone".

They want to buy it, and turn it into an unusable mess of pop up adds.. it's gotten so that I can hardly stand to be on any other website than this, get tired of playing "whack a Mole" with the pop ups.

Mike and I created this site to be just what it is.. an information source and clubhouse hangout for Buick guys.. I never intended to make money with it..

Thanks Jim. Fully understand where you're coming from and appreciate what you have done for us. Love the clubhouse hangout.
I belong to a Technical organization that was started in 1983 and we just got it approved as a Charity. Took a lot of work and time to get it approved. Regards Vet

I can remember hearing Jim telling us about this site years ago at a car show. I was thinking, wow what a cool thing that will be. Now here we are living it.

I didn’t realize that you have turned down monetary compensation to sell our information. I have learned so much over the years from the people on this board, it’s about time I give back. I just donated as a silver member. Thanks for not selling us out to the spam and advertisers Jim.
