Maybe Plan A isn't realistic, and you need to make a more realistic goal. If Plan B should really be your Plan A, then maybe you are actually achieving your (realistic) goals and just don't know it.

Most of us here are probably "old and ran threw", and can't keep a car, lol!

    1972Mach1 Just some M.M.O.G. guy.....

Almost all my cars have been things I've gotten when looking for something else.

My Mach 1 I got because I really wanted a '70, but back in 1992 they were something crazy like $14,000 for a really nice one and being a 12 year old I couldn't afford that. So I went for 2nd place and got my '72 for $3200 and haven't looked back. I wouldn't trade it for a Boss 429 or Shelby now.

My Caddy I got when I was looking for '63-'64 Riviera (I prefer everything about a '63-'64 over the more popular '65 except for the headlights, which I remedied). While searching for a Riv, I kept coming across Cadillacs for about 1/2 the price of a similar condition Riviera. At the time, it was a no-brainer....my thoughts were why pay more for something that in theory wasn't as nice as a Caddy. So I bought my '70 Coupe Deville and the longer I have it, the more I love it. Can't see getting rid of it now.

My '94 F250 I got in 2000 at 20 years old. I really wanted a Powerstroke, but couldn't afford even a used one at that age. But I found the exact same thing only with a 460 big block for about 1/2 price. Once again, I can't see getting rid of it. It's my other baby after my Mach 1, and I wouldn't trade it for a new truck.

My Riv and F100 are exactly what I was looking for when I got them, and one of them is for sale now. I'm keeping the Cadillac that I got as a "meantime car" while looking for the Riv. Turns out I like my Caddy much better, and going to replace the Riv with another Cadillac. I've also had multiple other classics and Mustangs that were exactly what I thought I wanted, but guess what: They're all gone now. The one car I really, really wish I had back is my '71 Delta 88, and I had no idea I wanted that (who would?) till I saw it sitting on a classic car lot. Turns out that it is my 2nd favorite car I've ever owned, and I regret selling it all the time..... So, don't be afraid to get something that isn't exactly what you want, you may just end up loving it more than you imagined.
