Just got back from my test route with the GS, west on 480 to Ridge Rd, then back.
On start up, no noise at all from the Johnsons, quiet from the first fire, no ticking, they're quiet from the start.
Oil pressure was great, removing the adjustable oil pressure regulator was a HUGE improvement in that the pressure increases with rpm on the highway, it was doing the direct OPPOSITE with the adjustable regulatoro_O
I now have the blue 70 psi spring and the regular old nut on it... SIMPLICITY:cool:
Hot idle pressure is about 12 lbs, I picked up 2 lbs tightening up the pump end clearance, WOOHOO:rolleyes::rolleyes:
It comes right up with rpm, so Im not concerned.
Front and rear hot idle oil pressure is 12 psi, at cruise theres about a 3/5 pound difference between front and rear.
Mart may be right about the front cam bearing journal being undersize, but Im not checking it, LOL, theres plenty of oil going around with the high volume pump, Im sure the stock pump would be fine but Im not changing it.
I just wanna see what this mother will do on the track:p
Oh my Ultra Flo 17222's are LOUD, to me anyway;)

    mark,
we sucked today. first pass was 11.6 and breaking up at 6k. found plugs at .040, changed them and went 9.90. still a second off. back to the drawing board.
they had a leaker on the track and was taking a long time. we went home after just 2 runs. the buicks got no respect today at all.

I wanted to get to the track before the Buick Bash at Quaker, but looks like my first track run WILL be at Quaker, too much stuff going on to try and make it earlier.
You going to the Buick Bash?

After driving my GS to work Friday and Today, to get "re-aquainted" with its new personality, I really like it.
Im my opinion, the SP3 is far superior to the Stage 1 DP intake.
I notice no loss of torque down low, and all the plugs color the same light tan, not so with a dual plane and its convoluted passages.
The roller cam has a much more radical idle than the 413 flat tappet cam, even tho the roller has less duration, and overlap, BUT the roller has more lifto_O
The Johnson lifters are the cats ass:cool: Thanks Larry and JW!
11 to 1 with iron heads, DO IT! I hear no detonation, pinging, NOTHING!
    Shoulda went 12 to 1:D:eek::D
850 cfm carb on a 350 is WAY TO BIG, HAHAHA yeah right, whatever, the 850 AED DP Im running is like fuel injection, very very responsive, no issues at all.
Cant wait to run it down the track to see how slow I go:p

Wait a minute.....your signature says you are putting the Stage 1 and Q-jet back on first.

    Pump 93
    Total is 31/32
Initial came out to be 16.
I believe the torque convertor (JW's 9.5" 2800 stall) has a lot to do with it, the engine isn't loaded near as much as with a cheaper convertor, so the engine doesn't labor.
At freeway speed ( about 3200 rpm) the load is moving.
