    Re: Ignigtion switch

Put the key in the lock cylinder, push a paper clip into the little hole next to the key. While pushing the paper clip in, turn the key counterclockwise. When you feel a little side pressure on the paper clip, remove it. The lock cylinder should turn a little futher counter clockwise and come out. With that removed, the bezel should screw off of the switch, releasing it so it will come out.

For my 67 Wildcat I was able to go to GM and they outfitted me with a brand new switch out of a recent 3 ton truck; - apparently that's the number the original lock and switch changes up to. The only thing wrong was that the switch was slightly off-centre, meaning the key hole was shifted to a 1 o:clock / 7 o:clock position.

    It's a '68 part only & I believe only for Buick.

Your only choice, unfortunatly is another 1968 buick ign switch,,, from another 68 Buick.... they are a stand alone year.... you can buy 67 on back and 69 on up,,,, but not a 68.... unless you get really lucky and find a nos one somewhere... I watched ebay for 2 years before I found one for my 68 riv....the only other alternative is to get another year buick switch and then cut all the wires off the plug that goes in back of the switch and wire each wire individually..... the problem is that the 68 wiring harness plug wont match anything but a 68 switch....
