    Hi Everybody,

I think that buick has the potential to make a new regal Gn/GnX However, I think that the fan base isnt big enough. I think we should make an online petition and send it to Buick I bet you in about 6 months after seeing that they will start work on a new Regal. This is what ford people did with the focus Rs and cosworth and guess what? Their bringing it over for 2007 Turbocharged 4cyl. Cosworth. So I think the potential is there its just that we need to be heard.

    Gnx

They would make it chevy powered and unaffordable because your buying the GNX name. They already had a concept of an 08 GNX or something and it was LS2 powered or something...which aint a bad drivetrain by any means but not for the GNX. And in the long run would ruin the GNX much like they did the charger and gto....bout the only car I think they did right was the mustang now if they would offer a 351 or 302 again it would be cool.

I totally agree!:TU: GM has their head WAAAYYYY too far up Shivvie's butt! Anything any GM brand want's to build performance-wise is pretty much man-dated to be "corporate (AKA Shivvie) powered". Why build a Buick...any Buick with the soul of a Shivvie, ANY Shivvie???

Sad thing is everyone's touting the LS line's superiority and doesn't even see that the majority of the architectural design is just plain "stolen" (oops, sorry...living in this PC time of history I guess I should have used the word "borrowed" ) old-style Buick BB's, SB's & V6's.:Dou:

Honestly, what does it REALLY share with the original SBC??:Do No:

I also agree on these points. I like the new Mustang design...you can't mistake it for some other ho-hum model like the GTO or Charger can be. And the fact that the (it's a semi-hemi at best!) HEMI is now available in almost everything that Dailmer Chrysler has to offer even the Jeep line!:Dou:

I will give them prop's on one thing thought...IF they follow through....and that is the new Challenger concept car.:TU: I haven't considered owning a new car (BTW...never have owned one) after the GN was discontinued in Dec '87 (I was 2 months shy of my 21st birthday so didn't have the cash anyway) until the '05 Mustang was announced. And....I think the Challenger is an even better looking omage to the original than the 'stang, I could definately see one of those sitting in my garage and I'm a DIE-HARD Buick guy. The infamous original Stage 1 vs Roy Badie's Hemi article introduced me to the Buick's butt-kicking torque and I've been hooked every since that Dec '84 issue!

Time will tell if Chrysler allows Dodge to go ahead and build the Challenger as it is. Hopefully they will not screw around with it like the Charger (4-door, that was a mark of genius!) was by no more than adding a new grille and such to a 300 and rebadging it.:Dou:

Looks pretty good I think. It probably wouldn't happen. If Buick were to collapse, would GM still own the Buick name? I hope Saab and Pontiac go before Buick does.

jeff bullock Dare to be different !!!

It looks good but the days of the "brand" engine are over folks. Each manufacturer has a base engine line and they put those in all the different makes,i.e. Chrysler,Dodge....Chevy,Pontiac,Buick...It's how they save money. Now the musclecar war is being waged just as much with sheetmetal as it is engines.Just don't have all the different engine makes like we did back in the day. However I would take a new Buick if it looked like that one rather it had an LS 2 in it or not.A new Buick motor just ain't gonna happen.Get used to it. :ball: :ball: :ball:

  6. it'll be a twin

As nice as it would be, it wont happen. If it does, it'll be a close twin to the new GTO, sure as hell they wont be origonal enough cause it would cost them too dam much for them to make a obseen profit on it. AND IF, if they did it would be in low production #s and avordable to those like Jay Leno and other rich show biz types.

    NJBuickRacer I'd rather be racing...

You won't find much support on this site. Most of the people here don't want a car that gets 28 MPG and has 400hp. They'd rather whine about LS1/LS2 engines (that share nothing with a chevy engine except bore spacing) and how everything sucks except 40 year old cars. I love my Buicks, but technology has moved past the point where many people on this site are comfortable with.

    450 hp
    12.8 at 112 mph

GM is in no condition to make a V-6 Turbo car EVER. The chance that a Gn or GnX will be brought back is pretty much next to nothing :Smarty: I put $1000 bucks on it

That Popular Hotrodding rendering is nice looking. The "2007" rendering is unrealistic, being that they stopped production on that platform. The Zeta platform is tooling up in Australia and will start to put out the next generation rear wheel drive V8 cars. Supposedly, an `08 GTO will be one of them. I wish Buick ends up with something, but I fear that streamlining the divisions could prevent them from getting a muscle car. Even though, I think Buick should be combating the entry and mid level BMW's instead of Cadillac combating the full line up, plus Mercedes, etc. You will NOT see a GN or GNX name plate. GN stands for Grand National which is a race series that Buick is no longer participating in. GS will be perfectly suited. And an LS7 powered GSX would be fantastic. I fell in love with the Buicks in the mid 80's and ran over everything with a `71 Centurion when I was in high school. But, I love the new GTO's, they are a thrill to drive and will beat just about anything. With the release of the revised 5.3, 6.0, 6.2 & 7.0, something like a 455 Buick or Turbo V6 will never happen. Everything is gearing up for variable displacement and variable timing so they can get away with these bigger engines. I think it is wise that GM concentrates on a refined engine line up. The LS engines are awesome powerplants. And just like the Buick engines, the SBC is an important part of HISTORY.

    I'd like to have 400hp and 28mpg.

Have you ever seen the carbed version of these engines (only over the counter of course) The timing cover has provisions for a distributor which would put it up front. That reminds me a lot of a type of motor we all love (no, not cadillacs).

that looks AWESOME, cept for the headlights...i like how the grille even looks like a GN/regal grille

if they WERE to bring them back, they would more than likely would put a chevy under the hood, but just for the sake of dreaming...

COULD YOU IMAGINE A 2ND GEN BUICK TURBO MOTOR!?!?!?! :eek2: :eek2:

Why not make a GSX based on the Camaro prototype only with an aluminum 455 or supercharged Buick V6? Maybe it could even have heated windshield washer fluid :) Paul

I like both the buick concept (the 2007 the most). But I wanted to ask EVERYBODY, does the GTO really appeal to y'all? I noticed one on the road earlier this year, before then I didn't know they had come out w/ a new GTO. I've since noticed 2004 GTO so I know that I'm late on this. And when I noticed it, I liked that it was back, but its nothing appearance-wise that caught my eye, just looks like a rebadged chevy cavalier. I am very impressed w/ the engine, the stock speed, and the numbers it puts up, but am I alone in thinking this? Needless to say, I don't like the cavalier. The Hot Rodding rendering seems to have the most originality design-wise, but the 2007 gnX looks bada$$(the hood and grill I guess) even tho it looks close to the GTO platform towards the back. As far as the drivetrain, honestly, I'm younger than most of you so I fell in love w/ the mid to late 80's Regal's when there was no such thing as a factory big block, and I like the idea of buick retaining its own identity even if it means having an LS1/LS2 as long as, like the guy said b4, it shares nothing w/ a chevy but bore/stroke. BUT, I find nothing attractive or sexy about putting a muscle car engine in a TUNER car or RICER, whatever you wanna call 'em. Gimme something that I won't look like a (in the words of Tony Soprano) Douche Bag driving, something w/ testosterone. Fin.
