Idiots lights on Start Up?

    Hi All,

I have a 1970 Buick Skylark, and at no point in the start-up sequence do any of the idiot lights come on in some sort of test phase. I was wondering if that was by design in 1970, or if there is a problem with my wiring. Does anybody have any knowledge on this matter?

    Thanks,

    Thomas

Doesn't the brake light come on too? It stays lit if the PB is on as well.

    Hey Guys,

Thanks for the quick responses. I actually just replaced every bulb in the dash cluster, so that should not be the problem. The Brake light comes on if the combination valve is stuck, or if the parking brake is on, but not as a start-up sequence. It looks like a wiring problem from the guy before, as the car has never had those bulbs lit. I think it may be because he put in an aftermarket oil pressure, temperature, and voltage gauge, and diverted some of the wiring there?

Yes, wiring. Pretty common problem on old cars with many owners. Do you have a Chassis Manual?

Only if the PB is on, or you have a hydraulic problem.
