Okay alternator guys, I am not sure if I am having any luck identifying this alternator by the numbers stamped on it, or just my lack of familiarity in this arena is why I am confused. I have looked at a lot of different charts and sites and still seem puzzled.

The Alternator was removed from my pals very original 68 GTO. But is an alternator so who knows?

Maybe the numbers I wrote down are unclear but maybe not. I studied them pretty hard to make out what I thought the stamps are.

Presuming the stamps are correct, can someone confirm what application the following numbers applied to or verify the stamping isn't clear and I am not looking up the right numbers?

1100616-52A That 616 is an early number as far as I can tell, and if that 3 is the stamp supports 1963 case?

3E17-12V NEG = May 17 1963 so a rebuilt unit installed at some point likely is a 63 case, but what is it originally off of?

The 52A is where I am most confused based on the info I have been able to find. I see some reference's 52A was available thru 1968 on some applications like Corvette, but not Pontiac (Wallace Racing site), albeit GM so it worked. I also don't see the number on any site or listing, and 52A doesn't pop up.

    Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks! Do you have any idea on value to anyone from a numbers standpoint?

I would say it's not of any great value. There are a lot of Olds Starfire fans, that's like Olds early muscle car before the 442. It probably came off something like that. Most of the guys that own them are older and not number freaks. It may fit other stuff, but that's what I see. It's definitely not like a 63 'vette alt, or 409 alt, it doesn't have that kind of value. Stellar would know better, because he was in the 'biz. But...I know Olds and it's probably worth $50.-75.00 tops as a core to somebody who really wanted it, maybe less.

There can't be a lot of that number out there still. Early 1962 used a generator late production used an alternator. Put it on ebay as RARE for $500.00 or best offer. Ya never know. Maybe Leno will buy it.
