I want new wheels and tires

Alright, I have had it with the 215/65 tires on the car, way too easy to break loose. These are on 15" corvette rally wheels, which I think are 7" wide. Car is a 64 skylark, has 10 bolt from a 65 chevelle, stock width.

With that said, I either want to use torque thrust d wheels, Buick rally wheels, or maybe slots. 15" diameter and non negotiable on size.

For tires, using 5" backspace 15x8's, do I stand a chance of fitting 275/55 out back? I pretty confident 255's will fit easily. I don't mind rolling the lip if needed, or "massaging" the wheel well. I'm fine with 215's on the front. Want to use et streets or something similar. Thanks in advance.

Yes, a 275/60-15 will fit on an 8" wheel with a 5" backspace and the stock rearend. You might have to do some minor hammer work on the inner wheelhouse but they'll fit. I have 15x8 with a 275/60-15 on mine but I have a `70 12 bolt rearend which is 1/2" wider on each end so I have to run a 5 1/2" backspace. I am running a 6" wheel in front with a 3 1/2" backspace and a 215/70-15 tire and they will rub just a bit going in a driveway if I have the steering turned all the way. I removed the center upper fenderwell bolt, which helps a lot. I don't think you're going to get a 15x7" Corvette rally wheel on the front without some rubbing problems.

The 215/65's don't rub on mine at full lock either direction. I was hoping to use a 50 or 55 to keep roughly the same height all around.

Thank you for the reply. I guess that's as big before tubbing the rear has to happen?

I guess I forgot to mention that I have Hotchkis 1" drop springs on mine. And disc brakes, which put the wheels a bit farther to the outside.
