I need some help badly. I am being zoomed big big time with the resto on my '70 Stage 1.

Doo Wop Where were you in '62?

As some of you may recall my car when to Ten & Now in Georgia a while back. More than a while back actually. They have had the car for 63 month and counting. That breaks down to 350 hours per yea or so by my calculation on 1600 hours
They have misplaced 2 RH mirrors, one was one the car and the other was a rechrome bought off a board member. They also replaced my rad support with a repro and I believe the original is up for sale on the long list of items for sale at Then and Now. So much stuff is screwed up right now. I have paid them $72000. $13000 for the motor and $8000. or so in parts. So, what is a man to do in this pile of dung?

Well I want to respond to this post right now before it gets deleted. You are really taking up the wazoo Korrie. I'd cover my losses right now and go get my car. They are obviously in it for the money and could care less about your car.

I've heard nothing but bad about them lately. I would get my car out of there yesterday!

Need to get your car out immediatly and possibly file a suit. First thing I'd do, though, is edit your post for language so it doesn't get deleted. I know you're angry and I've done the same thing typing exactly what I thought.

none of my business but just wondering, is that $72,000 US or Canada funds?

Once I get the shop finalized I should have an opening as well. But yes that amount of time is way to long for any car to be in resto unless agreed to before the work started. Now I realize that the resto that Nick and Duane are doing is going by fast but I don't think that a car should be in jail for 5 years.

@ Doo Wop, I am sure that there is more to this story than what is being written here.

I think it would help the board members if you shared ALL of the details.

You know that much of the delays on this build are due to the fact that you have international issues with transporting the car between the US and Canada. When YOU order a shop stop during the build, that takes your build and places it at the back of the line.

I’m not carrying the torch for T and N. They are by no means perfect. But, in your case, big chunks of the story are missing from your initial post

@ doo-wop, did you ask for your car back?

What international problems would I have? Tell me ok what they were. All I did was call a shipping broker and a trucking company to ship the car to Georgia. Simple enough. .
That was a short break, due to finances, would you consider that a problem. Bottom line 350 hrs a year is unacceptable, agreed.
Plus all the promises they made for delivery and or taking the Car to the GS Nats. All empty promises. Lost parts, parts replaced that not need to be. My list of grievances is long, the Phookin' car should have been done in 2 years. It was not a rust bucket, not by any means. You can go back to Mark and tell him that.

The funds are in US. dollars, add 30% to make it Canadian funds.

That's irrelevant, they no longer answer emails or phone calls.

I'm just asking a question, as I've seen similar posts quite a bit, and don't mean to insult or anything remotely like that. My question is: Over what period of time have you given the $72k? Is it all up front, or are you paying as you go for work completed? If someone kept asking me for more money, or $7k let alone $70k up front, I'd need to see some definite progress to the tune of that $70+k. If you put, say $10k down and they weren't progressing as planned, agreed on, or discussed, how did they end up with that much more of your money?

Sorry, as I said, I'm not trying to single you out and if your story is the way you say it is, I'm 110% on your side. I'm just curious how all these shops get this much money from intelligent, good guys when they don't provide the work that's being paid for.

Nothing was put down and payments were made on the fly. I'd get a bill and within 24 hours they were paid.

But no pics of progress to accompany the bill? If you have copies of the bills or receipts with statements of the work performed, but the work wasn't actually performed, there's your lawsuit. If they've done everything they said they would or did do for your $72k, I don't know if you can do anything other than get your car back.

So, you do state that you have caused some of the delays in this process. Your statement seeks to minimalize this important fact. However, your delaying the process, on more than one occasion, is a factor in what extended the time. (You stated as 63 months)

Change orders during the process, such as: changing complete interior color, during the build also leads to delays.

Again, I think it’s important to share more details to give a full picture of the complaint at hand.

Sharing the entire detailed process helps others when making decisions about a shop to use during the restoration process.

It would be better if both parties involved here took ownership of their shortcomings. This serves as a lesson to all of us in the hobby.
