    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

Find a 71-2 Skylark or Cutlass since they all had one.
You can also find them in 71-2 Monte Carlo and Grand Prix models.

    99% of Skylark-Cutlass donors are 2.56 or 2.73 peglegs.
Desiring 3.42's or 3.73's (no 3.55's are avail for 8.5's) will have to have an 8.5 built. Top quality build on clean SW housing with new quality gears, small parts & reman clutch type posi will run right under $900.

    8.5 rebuild

I still have a couple of cores here to build if you are interested shot me an email. Jim

Also on the 8.5 housing 71-72 monte info is incorrect. They still had only chevy 8.2 c-clip rears and 12 bolts that is it. 71 72 cutlas, skylark and grand prix.. That is it. If there was one under a monte it was trans planted. I know Montes. 1972's are a good sorce for 12 bolts though. Good luck on the hunt.

GrandPrixs did not have 8.5 10 bolts till '73 model. Have personally parted & cut-up close to forty '70-72 GrandPrixs & over a dozen '69's & have ck'ed hundreds more in yards. If a '70-72 GP originally came with a 400 Pontiac, & a not a 455, they came with '70+ 8.2 Pontiac 10 bolts.

    Late '72 Monte's & Elco's & possible Chevelle use.
Have mentioned before, but over the years have pulled three 8.5 A-body rears out of late '72 production Monte's & Elco's. All were TX cars. All were factory installation, & the GM 2.73 gears were dated where one would expect. Housing design totally changed for '73, & there was an effort to use up excess production of the 8.5 A-body rears before body style & design of rear changed, thus some 8.5's slipped into the Chevy "A" bodys. Watch for June build date on the cowl tags. Next time I'm at buddy's shop (Chevelle vendor) will ck out or purchase a '72 Chevelle Assembly manual. It should have part number for the 8.5's required shorter factory driveshaft along with date the driveshaft was released. Will be noted as an addendum as one reads down the box in the corner. Anyone that has a '72 Chevelle asm manual, feel free & ck the page with rear suspension & driveshafts.
