My th350 decided not to engage when I put it in drive so I've decided to look for an upgrade before I sink any more $ into my 350/350 combo. Anybody got a 455/400 combo they'd be willing to sell? I'm in San Antonio and I'd like to stay close to home.

    Buick 455 in pieces

I have 2 engines, (1) 1970 and (1) 1971 in basket case form. I have a mix and match of parts that could be assembled into an almost complete engine. I have engine parts from one of my old cars plus I bought a project from a guy, he had it in storage and some of the parts rusted. So what you'd get is the best of the parts that I have to make (1) engine.

The 1970 block, crank, pistons, rods, heads have never been gone through. I have a block, crank, pistons, rods, heads, front cover, intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, rocker arms with shafts, oil pan, probably have a set of pulley's. Also, i have new in the TRW boxes: lifters, pushrods, oil pump. Several brand new Felpro gaskets. I think I have new stock valves and springs and retainers would have to look.

From what I remember I do not have the following parts: New rings for the std pistons, cam shaft, carb, and ???

Also have several TH400 trans that potentially would need to be rebuilt. The transmissions that I have may be drivable but I have no way of testing them.

I live in Lawrence, Kansas and if this sounds like something you are looking for let me know, I'll send pics. I would make you a killer deal. :TU:

    455/400 set up

    Doug,
I would suggest checking either pick n pull or Nicks on Rosevelt(south SA). There is Johns salvage yard in Seguin but he is high on all his parts. I have my original block 455 but im gonna keep it. I bought a 455 out of a 73 lesabre about 2 years ago from pick n pull for around 100.00 but I went through it just to be safe. Nicks is cheap also or check Newell salvage(south SA). You will need to move your cross member especially if you get a long tail 400 and input yoke for drive shaft will be different. You can get drive shaft fixed at thrash driveshaft.
