I took the belts off an took the lower 3 groove crank pulley off inspected it nothing was wrong. Started the car harmonic balancer was wobbling. The bolt that holds the harmonic balancer has been torque wrenched too 200 an there is no rubber exposed on the balancer or visible damage. The fly wheel cover was off when I got the car. The wobble is not real bad but bad enough to make the belts bounce an get my attention. I would like to know what I'm in for an if I can fix this myself, thank you.

A good balancer should NOT wobble!!! I've got good used ones I could sell you. I would need a picture of the front & back of your original to get the properly balanced balancer for you.
    $125.00 plus shipping from Ct.

I have the same problem.. I made a thread not long ago about it..

I can make a little clip with the engine running, so you can see how the balancer on my car moves if you are interessed?

A new balancer, that runs straigth is no. 1, but the cost for me ( as Im from Denmark ) is like $400

Talk to Tom Telasco, please.... anyone can sell you a balancer but they should be matched to the engine. I'd bet he could get one to Denmark for less than 400.00.

Ill be running it as it is, hope to get it all lined up and nice, but for now it isnt that bad.. Im not worried :)

BigPig455, I wish he could, but the math ends up like this  :

    Shipping is ~$200 + $125 for the balancer + 25% tax ( 325 x 1,25 ) = $406

Tom is overseas shipping really that expensive? We're talking a 8lb shoebox for example...I've gotten stuff from Asia that didn't cost that much...

I can see 50$ or so, but 200 is outrageous. And Houmark, how do they tax a closed box? By declared value? Um.....maybe Tom gave it to you. Maybe.

Ive gotten stuff from China as well, and thats like $15.. But its way more expensive from US.. The Danish goverment is like gestapo, they open the box if they like, not caring about the value you set on the papers.. And if they think the stuff is worth more, YOU have to prove that it isnt.. We pay like 54% of our paycheck in tax, and with the money you got left youll pay expensive childcare, expensive gas and so on.. :( We have "free" hospital and doctor, but thats getting worse by the minut.. More and more dont work they entire life, but still claim they benefits, free childcare, child-support, money for heat and apartment and so on.. My wifes sister have 2 kids without a man, and she have just the same amount money as me without doing anything for it.. ( I work a high paying stainless blacksmith job, with ~40 hours a week )

Well, that got out of hand.. Sorry for OT :/

No, please.....that's really interesting. The grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence. It's good to ask someone who actually lives there.

Gee, why does this sound so familiar? Oh yeah, the same thing is happening here. What cracks me up is that whenever you hear the words "free" anything, it actually means "hold onto your wallet."

It would not surprise me if the total tax burden for a middle-class family in many parts of the USA is 54%.

The 54% is just from your paycheck.. If you make over a certain limit you can pay up to 66% over that limit.. And then comes the property tax, even if you dont own any money on your house, you still have to pay.. Tax for the water you use, and then tax to get rid of it again.. Tax for getting your garbage removed.. Tax for heating your house ( expensive for oil, less expensive for wood pellets ) Tax for having a car, penalty tax on top if you own i diesel car.. The more fuel your car uses, the more it cost to have, therefore the most sold cars in denmark is the Toyota Aygo and VW Up -Links below..

Everything is taxed here, and everytime they need more money for "the weak" and voluntary aid they just turn the screw a little.. People who wount work, get of easy because you cant take the hair from i bald person..

I have a house, i wife and a son here.. When we have had our second child well hopefully move to Sweden, where its a little more "Liberal".. In Denmark well support all that wount ( or cant ) support them self, with enough money to have a appartment, buy food, internet/telephone and sometimes a car.. Its way to easy to "cheat" the system here, because eventhough the employees from the unemployment-office can see they are lying and perfectly good to take care of a normal job, they cant refuse them benefits..

The % that work in private companies and make money for the country, are getting smaller and smaller for each day so there are constant cut-backs on the welfare we were suppose to get..

I'd suggest pulling the balancer off to inspect it and the crank snout. If just the balancer is damaged, it's replacable. If the crank is damaged, it's going to need some work.

OK I inspected it with the pulley off an no cracks in it or rubber popin out. What other signs of damage should look for around it before I pull it completely off an after I do get it all the way off. An when I take it off do I need to make some marks somewhere to put it on or the new one back on correctly, thanks.

Can you wobble it by trying to move it by hand?
Position isn't a problem. The crank and balancer have a machined slot and a woodruff key to keep them aligned.
Is the front seal leaking oil?
I'm not experienced with bad balancers, but have heard they usually fail because the bolt is not tight, allowing the balancer to start moving around. This can cause wear on the crank and the inside of the balancer, causing a wobble. This would likely produce an oil leak as well.

If you need a tool to pull the balancer, be sure to use one that uses the bolt holes, and not one with fingers that grab the outside. Some auto-part stores will loan out the proper tools.

How do I know the flywheel is lined up right an has been put on correct? I think the flywheel maybe the cause of my wobbling harmonic balancer. If the flywheel had been took off an not put back on correctly could this not also cause the harmonic balancer to wobble an be out of balance? Thanks
