    Drache Typical ****ing Canadian!

If you've read my other post "Hope my luck doesnt run out" I just bought a 1969 Buick Sklyark Custom (not a '68 as I thought before, with a high performance 350 4-bbl for $700 CANADIAN! I'll be picking up the car in about a week or two. I bought the car without seeing it :Dou: (I know I know bad idea) but I couldn't let this offer pass me up! I'll post pics as soon as I get to see the car! I hope it's in the same shape this guy told me....

WISH ME LUCK EVERYONE! YAHOO! MY SECOND BUICK!:TU:

    Cheers everyone! :beer

Also... Where can I get a new Vinyl roof for the car? I need a new vinyl roof, 3 pieces of chrome (one is the chrome around the rear window), and at least one bottom half of a new quarter panel... THATS IT!

60k original miles on the car and a mint interior!

God I'm so happy I'll burst... hope that this car is in the same shape as he told me... (wait I think I said that before...) who cares I'm too happy! I just BOUGHT my first car! The '64 Wildcat was a present! WAHOO!

    congrats.

i'm sure you can find the chrome cheap on ebay or off a board member. resto sources like year one and OPGI usually sell vinyl tops, and it shouldn't cost too much to have it installed...just be weary of what may be under the old one.

Contrats! Always fun to add another buick to the collection. Before you put the vinyl top back on, you might want to prep the top, at least with some rust-preventative or something like that. Definately keep us posted on how it goes. :TU:

Well hopefully the vinyl isnt all that to bad. I'd like to get the car at LEAST driving and then worry about it looking all nice.

Anyone heard of a product called POR-15? Some friends of mine swear by it on their Dodge Chargers. anyone use it? What's a good product?

    WD-40?

por-15 is an excellent product, i'd just read their website for info becuase it's not exaggerated...their description is quite accurate. i've actually seen guys use it under vinyl tops, but it seems a bit too..permanent..to me. it can be sanded off with some hard work, though, if they need ever arises.

  6. Congrats, Kyle! Glad you got it. I hope it's as nice as it sounds. :TU:

Kyle what color vinyl top do you need? i have a brand new in the box white one from poston. also i should have the other parts you need. the chrome around the rear window is more than 1 piece. i have all the chrome from a 69 i parted out.which side lower 1/4 panel do you need, if you need just the lower,i have a 68 shell sitting here,i cant seem to sell the whole thing so i think i will start cutting parts out. :Brow:

The color of the vinyl doesn't matter. How much would you like for the vinyl and the chrome? With you in Ohio thats a long shipping and bringing across the border...

Ok I put the down deposit into his account! $350 gone hopefully to a good cause. I've got a reciept from the bank stating the money went into his account and he's mailing me a reciept stating that he recieved the money.

I learned that the car has the original red paint, missing the white vinyl (would rather have black anyways), no rust under the vinyl, and a rough running performance 350.

I'll hopefulyl pick up the car in a week and I'll take pics of it. I hope I'm not going to be disappointed and I hope I'm not being ripped off.

Just a suggestion. Don't replace the vinyl top. Paint it white or black or whatever and use the lower trim as the dividing point.

Did this with my car and get many compliments. And, you don't have to worry about rust anymore. Even better, the painted top was a factory option for many years, so it can be "factory correct".

Well I might just do that. I'd prefer a black 'vinyl' top but with a white interior and a candy apple red car... it might look a little silly. I think I'd keep the white top.

Dang! That sounds like a good buy.

The rough running may just be the points, should clear up with a basic tune-up.
