    storm yeah.......

Ok I have this thing where I like to drool over GN's that are on e-bay. I have just seen a GN on there that ruined it for me. I can't believe someone would do that to a GN and still be able to call it a real Grand National. Might as well stick Monte Carlo on it.

You will just have to look at the link to understand what I am talking about.

I myself am amazed at how many people call up TA Performance with GN's that they are putting 455's into. Some peolpe are never satisfied, years ago I tech'd a call of a guy putting a 455 in a `67 tri-power 427 Corvette, at first I assumed the original engine wasn't with the car, so I had to ask. He replied nope it's there, runs fine, just not enough torque!!! Nice way to ruin a $60,000 car.

Well I would rather see a 455 in that Grand National then the SBC :af: that they put in it. I say KEEP A BUICK A BUICK. Chevy has enough stuff that they don' t need to go stealing our stuff.

    is a real GN? :af:

if you want to do tht, why don't use a cheap v6 regal and let the GNs live...

RWarrior I agree! I mean at this level its not like he picked up a rough GN with a hole in the block so that he could get a stronger 2004R & 8.5 rear for cheap. Then droped a SBC in because it was all he had or could afford. He replaced all that stuff anyway. Certainly you have to respect the amount of work and money he put in this car but I see no reason for him to deface a GN. 710 HP? Thats been done with a production GN block. 1100 HP on NOS Isn't there stage blocks doing that without NOS? Could'nt he have built this same car with the same amount of power on that $100,000 using a Stage motor. Did this car scare him because it does not sound like he has raced it or it would likely say so far its run a best of but there is alot more in it.

On the other side of the coin like Dave says I would not deface a 427 trip power vette to put in a 455 either even though I really like the 455. For that matter please put 455s in regals not GNs. Make a cloan GN ok or paint a 455 regal like a GSX well hmmnn that could be interesting. Its not just that he put a chevy motor in a Buick its that he took a special car that has some history and did what.. Did he make it his own or just make it common.

    What I Think

I've got an 86 T-Type and a 455 powered GS. I can tell you honestly that I would not yank that turbo motor in favor of a 455 motor EVER (and not just because the 455 can't outrun the turbo). Likewise, I wouldn't yank by big block and put a turbo motor in it (although it is quite tempting!!!). I'm not a big believer in dumping original motors in real muscle cars. Now, a skylark or plain regal? Do what you want to them.

    My opinion

It can't be a GN. It doesn't have Air Conditioning.

    GSXMEN Got Jesus?

Judging by the block off plate on the firewall, it probably DID have AC at one time.

Did anyone notice who is selling the car...Bruce Toelle from Performance Transmissions!?! A Buick Guy - no less!!!:Do No: Seems like someone that's such a regular on the turbobuick boards would just stick with a Stage block build a killer V-6??

I suppose there is some kind of story behind going with SBC power....:puzzled:

*Just a side note: Bruce builds some of the BEST trannies in the country!! Anyone looking for a killer 200-4r, check out what he has available on his website.

  10. Buy it now for 70,000???? Yeah right like thats gonna happen:moonu: If I had 70, 000 to spend on a car it would be spent on a REAL GN you know the turbo V6 one , not some hacked together mess, then Id buy a 60 LeSabre with the change , wonder if this guy has realized yet that he has made an :error:

Sad part is...the car looks to be pretty well built! Unfortunately, it won't please either the Chevy crowd OR the Buick crowd!:Dou:

I think the $30k 'bath' that he's going to take, will be enough of a reminder to keep a Chevy a Chevy and a Buick a Buick!!

    Madcat455 Need..more... AMMO!!!

    Lets see..... Hmmmmm...

$100,000 for low 8's (maybee) with nitro.....

    $20,000 for a civic to to 12's....

Yep... gotta be a former ricer.

I don't know for sure... But I don't think it takes more than $30,000 to make a real GN do low 8's:gt:

I knew a guy in Lansing MI that had a 80's monte carlo with a blown nitro 454 that did low 9's.... didn't have anywhere near that cash invested (don't know about now as he blows his motor once or twice a year...lol). And it was a nice looker to boot.

  15. 350GST

    350GST never done

Hehe, I'm putting a 455 in my T Type at the moment. Bought the car with a GS 350 so thats my excuse. I figure if the car is already molested, it might as well be fast. Anybody ever used a Poston GS 116 cam? Tryin to figure out a good engine combo.
