Yeah I’m all for a TNT all week! I’d be there at least a couple days as long as it was round robin, they called different classes, junior drag, bikes, slicks only, then DOT’s.
It’s all farm land out at 42, probably Amish as I saw an Amish buggy going down the road while in staging.
I like watching the late model “muscle” cars trying to do their burnout, they struggle from lack of low end torque, they’re all high rpm engines. I wanted to be paired with a Hellcat, but he was a few cars ahead of me, I’m sure I coulda had him till half track, then he’d blow by me:p

We pay $25 to participate in Streetnight at New England Dragway. Wednesdays, you can get a lot of runs in and if you're quick with a wrench and prepared to make changes, plenty of time to tune/adjust . Fridays are usually busy, but you should be able to get 4 runs in at least, provided everything runs smoothly and the Hondas keep their internal parts, internal.....JIM

How tall of a tire are you running in the rear?
26"? If you move up 3:73s and a 28" tall tire , your ratio would be around 3.55. Get sum 110 octane, mix it 4:1 with 93 octane. It'll net you 96.4 octane. Probably get away with advancing your timing a few degrees as well with more octane. Borrow some front runner rims/skinny tires. Loses ya some weight. Keep a pen/pencil and a lil notebook in the car. Keep notes every run documenting all changes, adjustments.
    Most importantly, have fun!

Not sure if ya have seen this, but it is very helpful. Find your mph, that'll tell ya what car should be capable of, run your finger across and see what 60' ya need to run that time. It will also help you decide which area you need to address to better your time.....
    Good read by Gary Bohannon....Jim

    Im running MT 275-50-15 DR's they're 26" tall
Im running 'bout 35/36 deg. total timing.
Last year at the Buick Bash I added 'bout 5 gals 110 to my 1/2 tank of 93 per Larrys advice to guard against detonation.
Even straight pump 93 I don't hear any pinging at 36 deg, I might bump it to 38, but I feel Im treading into the danger zone at 11 to 1 with iron heads.

    That's a cool chart, its mentions a 3.42 gear and JW's 9.5 convertor.
I just need time to study it:D

Interesting chart. My old '70 350 4-sp. (Stock '70 bottom end/heads/dist., Headers, T/A intake, Straight up/not degreed KB Mark 2 cam, 2½" exh., QJ, 3.73's) back in the 1980's used to run 14.01 @104. My 60' times were horrible (not sure if I have any time slips but IIRC 2.20's) - Unfortunately I didn't know squat about tuning and wound up missing a shift and bending a valve that summer which led to a 10 year hiatus for the car. The MPH showed it was making HP to go mid 13's. If I'm looking at this chart correctly if I could've gotten the 60' times down to 1.77 then theoretically the car could've gone 12.75 which while I find hard to believe for a very mild 350 build (hardly - more like pieced together & luck), is a testament as to how much the ET is almost if not as reliant on good suspension (& proper tuning) as it is on raw HP/torque.

60ft is key to a good pass.....my cars best 1.45 60ft 1/8 mile low 6.50s at 104.....but if it goes 1.47/1.4 . It's right on the charts 6.70 at 102.........I think I should be able to see 1.42. Maybe even 1.40. With some more tweaking

Yep, Thompson you'll get 3-4 TNTs on Wednesday. Or Saturday some time trials and eliminations if you want, min. 3 runs. I was racing 10.90 class yesterday and you could get 2 time time trials easy. BTW Sandy's 60' s in her X are in the 1.8's and she goes 12.7-8 but mph is 105. You need a little more oumph.

With Norwalk being locked down this season I'm sure 42 will be crazy busy. For those of us in the northern middle part of the state it's the only other track with reasonable distance that's still good.

I was at pacemaker last year and the pits needs alot of work and they won't have the parking to handle the large influce.......the track was ok.....not well prepped and 2 passes in a row I had to dodge deer at the top end of the track.........I haven't been to marion in who knows how long so bo clue how it is.

Thompson is like a 2.5 hr tow.....but last time I was there the parking was nice, track well handled and prepped......I could of had twice as many passes as I made.....never waited much over 10 minutes and that was with them prepping beteeen.......I has a very good time there....just a touch far sometimes

I might go back to 42 Wednesday from work, they have TNT, guy there said it wasn’t as crazy during the week, plus I know where to go inside and not waste time driving around looking for stuff:D
I checked Thompson’s website this morn. DAMN it’s like a ghost town! They used to have TNT on most Sundays, I was gonna go this morn. But they only have a few events listed that I saw:(

and the guys in nhra STOCK class run 4.56's and up to 6's. may want to back track on chassis set up and gearing to go faster. granny gears are for the drive-in.

    Mark ,
If you cam makes power up to 7000, why not hang the 1-2 shift til 6500-6800? Put a rev-limiter on it for piece o'mind..
I let my combo shift 1-2 by itself, around 4800, and it left ALOT on the table. I shift 5300 1-2 & 5300 2-3. ( 455-TH400-3:42). I plan on modifying a trans governor so it will shift 5300 when left in drive for consistent track performance. Next years experiment.
Also , curious what RPMs you are going thru the traps at?
If too high an RPM at end of track, you can borrow someone's 28" drag radials and try that.
If too low, you need more gear, because going to a shorter tire is not an option. JIM

I’m going back to 42 this Wednesday right from work, HOPEFULLY I can get more than one pass in, and take note of rpm thru the traps, I do know the rpm climbs fast

I was wondering the same thing about the low rpm shift in 1st gear.......it shouldn't be a problem to make the 1-2......I have 4.30 gears out back, 5k flash converter, 3500 on the trans brake and I can easily make the 1-2 shift at 6k on a column shift car
