We ran into a problem installing the upper bushings into the rearend housing last night. The pass. side went in without a problem but there is an issue with the drivers side. If we drive the bushing in all the way (to the step on the bushing) it will be hitting the housing. I'm afraid if we leave it out so it won't hit the housing it will throw the upper arm geometry off and possibly create binding. Has anyone else running HR stuff on a 12 bolt rear had this problem? I've tried to call Paul at HR and sent him an e-mail but I haven't heard anything yet.
Keep calling, he will respond, Paul is very busy, and often works late at nite, he very much cares about his parts and ther fit and finish, I will Personally take some heat for this man! as he is a friend of mine, he is not often on the "boards" please call him direct, tell him Bruce sent you, it'll cost you more but hey you got him Right?(just kidding) you will find Paul to be very fair and approchable. Bruce
Todd, is this a standard 12 bolt? or some odd year morfidite? I installled Pauls stuff on my "chevy" 12 bolt and had know problems, at all, upper and lowers, plus the Bolt on antiswaybar was a dream to install, I really beileve that Paul will be ther e to help you soon!! Bruce
Thanks Bruce. My brother received an e-mail from Paul today. He said he has seen this before. He said some of the 12 bolts have some clearance issues with the ear being too close to the body of the housing. Some guys have even had to take a grinder to the control arm to keep it from hitting the housing. The rear is the original from the Canadian built GS. Paul said to drive the bushing in as far as we could without it hitting the housing and it would be OK.
Pauls stuff is definitely top notch. I've heard nothing but good things about HR's kits. We ordered the entire kit and it is just awesome to look at. It actually looks too good to put underneath a car.
