Was wondering if anyone has had experience replacing the lens on the instrument cluster clock ? Or if anyone has removed the lens to clean the face ?The winding stem does not have a screw holding the wider piece on the shaft. thanks, Brad

You can get it out through the radio opening. The knob unscrews. The end of the winding stem is threaded. You have to grab the stem with something that will hold it but not mar the surface. And don't be surprised if the knob snaps off.

And there is no cleaning the lens. The plastic itself has clouded. You'll need a new lens. But new lenses aren't made with the hole through them. You'll have to drill the hole. The clock probably doesn't even work right? Might be a good excuse to install a repro tach!

Thanks - managed to get it off without breaking. Clock worked before I took the car apart. I did not try taking the back off to get at the mechanism. Hoping it will still work. GSX has a hood tach so I am good.

Has it been converted to quartz? If it hasn't, its got a set of points in it. The points get pitted which is why they stop working and why the lens fogs. Not much you can do with the mechanism besides trying to file the points and maybe give it a couple drops of WD-40

I tried that with an Olds clock. Could not find access to the points. Lubed the gears - still did not work. Thanks again for the positive battery cable block
