How To Repair Chassis where Crossmember Mounts

Just got my Regal home yesterday.

Anyways, I was underneath it spraying oil all over the place and I noticed that on the Driver's Side where the Tranny Mount (Crossmember) bolts onto the chassis, it is really rotted out. Not much left hanging on there. Needless to say, I won't be putting a lot of load on the driveline, because I don't need that falling off!

How would I go about repairing this? Could I take it in to a shop, get them to drop the tranny mount, and weld a new piece of steel on the frame to bolt to? If I were to do this, I'd also order in one of those dual exhaust crossmembers.

    Thanks

Depending on how rusted it is i would try and put larger washers on it first. As far as welding new metal in its not that hard, most trans shops would do it for around $100.

It's pretty rusted out. I'll get a picture of it tomorrow. Thanks for the info.

if its really bad, some 3/16" plate steel welded in will solve it :beer

Wow, I forgot I made this thread.

Things got out on hold for the winter. I'm in the process of ordering in an Iceman crossmember and going to take it down to a friend who can weld the frame. Many guys in the area won't touch it due to liability reasons. It's good to know good people I guess.

Next on the list is a true dual system!
    Then a new heartbeat. :D
