    George,

Unless you have a specific need, I would pass on the ampmeter. Just go with the voltmeter.

If you still want to install the ampmeter, make sure that the wires that you use are heavy enough (gauge wise) to handle the current!!:Smarty: Use 12 gauge wire at the very least, preferable some 10 gauge wire.

Some kits come with that tiny 16 or 18 gauge stuff....that's a fire looking for a place to happen!!

*Don't forget a grommet if you're going thru the firewall!!

Definatly pass on the Ampmeter.. Alot more wiring and no real benifit..

Hooking up a Autometer Voltmeter = Easy as running to KFC.. :gt:

Take a length of red and black 18ga wire, put ring terminal on one end and either taps or buttsplices on the other. I went with tap connectors to all new wires, but that's just a wire freak in me. Run the red wire to a switched ignition source (ie. radio wire, etc) run black to ground. Yep, it's that simple..

For the lights run the red wire(s) to a dash light source (ie. ashtray light) an the black to ground. Now they dim with the headlamp switch. Use tap connectors or/and endcaps if buying a gauge cluster.

AutoZone can prettymuch hook ya up with everything.
