I'm trying to hide a radio, and have seen where people have installed them in an original under-dash mounted kleenex box. Does anyone have any ideas how I can hide a new radio and still keep the original in the dash? If you have ideas, please also let me know if you know where I can get the parts to "hide" it. I'm on a tight budget and really don't want to put a radio under the seat or in the glove box.
I know a guy who wired his new radio up to his stock radio so nobody would break in his car and steal it. So basically the stock radio was there but you controled the new one, under the dash or in the trunk or glovebox. I'll try to find the website where he did it.
This is so cool How about what Dave Hanlon did? :beer Of course, you'll need a non-working 8-track and mounting brackets. <img src="http://www.v8buick.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37933&stc=1"> <img src="http://www.v8buick.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=37935&stc=1"> PS - Mine's in the glove box, with a 'remote control'
Yeah, I saw this pic. the other day. Just need to have the parts to do it with. I want mine easy access for CD's. Kinda hard for a short girl to reach the glove box from the driver's seat!
Once the snow melts and I can actually get at the Centurion, my plan is to hide a new one where the ashtray is. The ashtray is 10 inches wide so fitting it in is no problem. I found a donar ashtray so my original will be put away for safe keeping. If all goes according to plan the dash will look original when I'm done and have easy access to a new radio just by flipping it open. I'll take pictures along the way and post them. Now the snow problem...
