Get drip rail chrome trim off a 1967 Special without damaging it? Is there another special tool just for the thin strips? Is it the same tool as the window trim?

Just carefully pry it off at the bottom of the strip....I heard a can opener wrapped with tape will work. Or a wide putty knife. Mine was already damaged by a careless bodyman, so I was'nt too carefull...Hey, is yours anodized aluminum, or stainless?

On the removal I've been using paint stirring sticks with a small hammer to remove them (catch the bottom part of the rail and tap litghtly) and to install, hange the top part of the moulding them carefully pull it straight down till it clips in. For installation do not us a hammer of any kind. AL.

Thansk for the tips guys, I think I'll try both and see which method works best. Mine are stainless to answer your question, and in beautiful shape...don't want to hurt them when I start stripping and sanding.

The stirring sticks are soft wood and work well but take your time. You be able to get them free a paint stores or places like Lowes. AL
