    The motor in question is

    '70 455
    TRW forged pistons, std bore
    Stock Rods, ARP bolts
    Rotating assembly balanced
Ported Stock Small Valve Heads (done locally), ARP bolts
    Edelbrock performer
    Demon 850 carb
    Straightline Perf. 226/238 cam

How big of a shot would this motor be able to take safely??

    Thanks!!!

I have a motor that is very close to yours and have been hitting a 125hp on it for almost 3years and never even burned a plug. I have 54000 mile as of 2 days ago on this car.I have heard other members putting 250hp on them and living. It all comes down to making sure you have the right timing, plugs, and fuel in it. Just take your time and start out small and work your way up.

stock rod would only hold about 550 hp no more rods won't take the pressure
