How much hp will manual steering and a Moroso drive for the water pump free up? Will the Moroso be enough for a 7 blade fan and clutch with a good alu rad?
I've seen people spin a fan with the Moroso drive, but only lighter weight plastic or aluminum "flex fans". Not sure what you could stand to gain power-wise.
I think Hot Rod Garage, or Engine Masters (Same guys doing Roadkill) dynotested which fan took most power to spin, and how much you'd gain by not having one on.. The show can propely be found on YouTube, as it were made before Hot Rod Magazine made their own broadcasting platform..
I dropped the belts off my ps and alt and went .05 in the 1/8 faster. Went 2 passes with, 2 without, 2 with, 2 without I already had electric wp and fan
Well, I knew it was not 20-30 but at that little I will keep PS and belt driven water pump. It´s only a 10´s street car.
I cant say how much the wp and fan is worth, I have run an electric for years not for the hp but to be able to cool down after the pass. I was playing 1 day in my on just a test and tune......I ended up switching to manual steering when I redid the motor as it made room for my crank trigger and easier to not have to fab up to line pulleys up. But for a street car not sure I would give up ps
It´s a street car I run in the no prep series over here, so every .10 counts, but I will keep it for the cool factor because the guys I run over can´t understand that my motor looks so stock and I don´t have any juice on it.
