Ordering level 3 from crower this weekend (probably monday afternoon), and I was wondering how long it normally takes for those who have used them before. Standard ground shipping is like 3-4 days usually, that seem about right? Kind of on a time schedule, so an extra week is kind of not good for me. On the other hand, if anyone of you fine gents has a NEW not used Level 3 you'd sell for a reasonable price, me and my SP 350 would thank you. Any help as always is appreciated.
I had a bad experience with Crower. I called to order a custom cam, gave my info and never got a call back. I figured they either forgot about me or had a huge backlog and would call when they were going to start grinding the cam. No email receipt or anything. I at least wanted preliminary cam specs before they actually ground it. Almost a month later it just shows up at my door and I am charged at the same time. Meanwhile I had already ordered a custom roller cam from TA. Maybe I am too new school but it is very strange to not have any confirmation when you purchase something like a custom cam. People at Crower were very rude to me when I told them I wanted to return it. They sent some installation parts with the cam that were for a chevy engine and not a Buick engine which also dented my faith in the product. Not saying they are a bad company, I just had a bad experience.
I have to ask why would anyone support Crower and not TA, they have plenty of cams to choose from and can have a custom one made if you want. Do what you want, but this just takes longer for TA to make other parts for the 350 Buick. For instance, When TA comes out with the heads and we start to buy them, will someone like Edelbrock then jump on the ship and produce them for about 700.00$ less. Which set would you buy now. Just sayin.
I liked the specs of the crower cam better is all. Plus it was cheaper. Also, ordered it monday, haven't heard a peep from them since. They said it was out of stock, so that may be why. I just hope it gets here by next weekend. It's the last part I need for my engine.
X2. The biggest drawback to Edelbrock heads for the Buick is the Chevy style rockers IMHO. To me, Edelbrock punked out and said "ok, just make it like Chevy heads with their rocker set up, and we'll tell 'em its way cheaper for rockers instead of the shaft set up, then they'll think were looking out for 'em when we really don't give a **** about their Buick heads"
You said the Magic word here, Cheaper! So now tell me, what does TA do here, just say, OH Well we will just have to wait to put out those heads, Another potential customer just went some where else, we are short 40$. The TA 212 cam is a proven winner for most rpm ranges. What we need here is someone to get some gonads and put in the small solid lifter cam they have. Maybe I will do that. If Edelbrock came out with their 350 heads tomorrow for 700$ cheaper than TA, would you buy those instead of TA's 350 heads? After all I have been asking about this for 20 years now, and we are sooo close we can taste it. But since you decided to buy from Crower instead of TA this takes away money they may need for their future products for the 350. In 1994 when I had my motor rebuilt, I bought EVERY part from TA, right down to sending them my heads to be ported. I bought a crank, rods, pistons, rings, cam, lifters, SFI flexplate, convertor, oil pump front cover assembly with larger oil passages and the large gears, cam bearings, intake, 2 of them now, large oil pump pickup, and a 7qt special made oil pan. My total support went to them. This is why the 455 guys are going strong. TA is not always perfect but they are the best we got and should support them when possible. just my 2c.
You gonna whine because I didn't buy plugs or wires from em either? Or what about the quadrajet I bought off ebay? Gonna be up my ass about that? I like TA, I like what they do. I just got $523 of parts from them for my SP motor. Not to mention the $90 cam bearings and $250 balancer, and my other HEI I bought previously. I just happened to buy the cam I wanted that many people in my case have used with very good results. And if Edelbrock were to make 350 heads, that (for the sake of argument) were 100% on par with TA's heads, it'd be hard for me to not buy them if they were $700 cheaper. Why? Because they'd be cheaper. Plain and simple. I apologize me spending $181.58 somewhere else got your panties in a bunch. I'm sure that was the last bit of pocket change they needed to roll out them heads. That being said, I'm still gonna buy from them when I, and I mean I, see fit. And I will definitely be slapping down $3,000 for those AL heads when I can afford it and they have the kinks worked out. Tell ya what, if this cam sucks ass, I'll drive up to the crower store, return the cam, and DEMAND they shut their operation down because it's takin money from TA.
I was gonna do that anyway. Too bad I've run low on funds, one wheel peel burnouts for a while. I'll make sure to shoot it from the passenger side.

If this is truthful and meant to persuade some loyalty, anyone reading the head threads would question the need to purchase more CNC machinery if there's a cash flow problem preventing their release. Meaning; I'm not stating that it's the reason.
