How hard to rotate tire on rim?

I bought a tire balancing machine so I can balance my own tires, but I don’t have a way to mount/dismount tires. I have one tire I need to rotate on the rim to better balance it. Can I let all the air out of the tire and then rotate it on the rim? Or do I have to have a machine to break the bead before I can rotate the tire?

You will need to break the bead.
Tire bead is a skosh smaller diameter than the rim, so it stretches to fit and form a good seal.

But, you can let the air out and press just next to the rim and break the bead. I have done it with the heel of my foot.

It might be easier to take the tire to a tire shop or place servine place that also services tires, and ask them to break the bead. Might even do it at no charge.

i remember running over a wheel/tire to break a bead with a truck or even with a sledge hammer.

Depends on how much torque your car has... :^)

I was going to say the same, if you bought a balancer you might as well get the dis-mounter. For home use, that's not a bad price. It's not as slick as the machine in a tire shop, but it will beat some of the other methods. I assume you know how to remount them. If not let us know and we give you some tips.

I ended up taking it to a tire shop and having them do it. They had a hard time with it, so I'm glad I didn't try.
