I want to add some Lucas Oil to my 350 Turbo but don't want to drop the pan to drain off fluid to put in the 22 Oz bottle. Is there another whey like on the oil pan of the motor where I just need to loosen a bolt or something??

The transmission does not have a drain plug on it. You could take the lines that go to the radiator off, and get a little bit out of it.

You could also pull the driveshaft out and a little bit might come out of the tail.

Maybe a turkey baster with a length of hose on the end to stick down the tranny's dip stick tube and just suck it out.

Dale's right. Get the thing they sell to change your oil through the dipstick tube. I think I seen it at Harbor freight.

I would use it only for tranny fluid though.

Thanks for the fast response guys!

I guess I'm just getting old thinking all these complicated ideas and it as simple of a tranny line or turkey baster with hose.

    Thanks again!

When I first asked the wife for her turkey baster, she gave me "the look". :puzzled:
I did fulfill my promise to her though and bought a new one for the kitchen.
    :TU:

Funny, when she was telling my Mom about my taking the turkey baster for a project in the garage, my Mom told her that it didn't surprise her at all because my Dad had done the same thing!

I bought a good "oil sucker" at a Marine store. Works great!:TU:

If you get the time and chance, you could replace the tranny pan for one with a drain plug - I bought one from Jegs and did this - now changing tranny fluid is a breeze.

Around here, we call it a "rose gun". Put any length of hose on the end that you require. Be prepared for a very big mess.

The Good: The Turkey Baster with a hose attached did the trick:TU:

The Bad: Tranny still leaks even after warming up and going for a little ride. Time for a rebuild.

what is the reason you are putting lucas snot garbage in the trans in the first place?

Do to the low mileage and that fact that I only drive the car a dozen times or so during the summer some of the seals were leaking. I was told to try Lucas Trans Oil Treatment to replace 1 quart of the tranny fluid and run it for a while to see if that did the trick. I can't quite see but looks like it's leaking buy the rear seal, Spedo area, or maybe tail seal?

that should be easy to fix. its only 4 bolts to take the extension housing off. you may as well just change them all because its easy to get to and the seals are cheap. lucas snot is the worst thing to put in any car. i am against these wonder tonics that rebuild your engine, restore lost compression, overhaul your tranny, fix leaky head gaskets, whatever. they never work and all your doing is dumping sludge in there. what it does is coagulates by the leak and makes the seals swell up. what that does is reduce the life of your tranny and thats what the makers of lucas DONT tell you. i took a tranny appart that someone added some stop leak into and it was like someone packed it with vasiline. some of the passages were plugged which caused it not to get enough pressure to certain clutch packs which caused them to slip to the point of where they burned.

its your car to do what you want with but i was just stating my opinion on lucas snot

    Matt,
Mine had the same problem a month ago. Took it to a local trans. shop & left it for the day. All external seals changed- kickdown, dipstick, speedo, shifter input etc. They also changed the fluid & filter. $250.00 out the door. My garage floor has never been so dry!

I was just getting ready to search and see if anyone posted a thread on this topic and there was this one! Just did a filter/gasket change and overfilled the transmission by at least a pint, maybe even a quart. :Do No: Will it hurt anything to drive it with too much fluid until I can do the turkey baster method?

i heard you can blow seals like that and cause a bigger mess..but i thought about the overflow hose on top of the tranny and realized it might just shoot out that hose, but maybe the seals do go bad if you have way too much.by the way..i had a major leak in the engine and tranny and used lucas oil stabilizer and did the trick..

no it is not good to overfil the tranny at all. too much pressure will build up inside and will blow seals out. its not as bad as over filling a engine because the fluid is less likely to get airated like in an engine but it is possible if theres a lot in there.

Next chance I get I'll get the car up on ramps and see if I can get the tail off to do those seals. That would have the tail gasket, speedo seal and rear seal correct? I already did the pan and filter.

    Thanks
    Matt
