Where is the best place to get a Hood Tach & which one to get? I see TPP has a couple types, Year One has em, & so does OPGI...

Just lookin for a little guidance...
    Thanks!

I believe The Parts Place is the only one who makes them. Get the one with the harness and the vacuum hose setup to keep the condensation out of the tach.

Ryans-GSX Have fun, life is short.

There are about 4 manufactures of the hood tach's. If you buy one from Year One you could end up with a Pontiac type with a Buick sticker in it or a good reproduction. Kind of a gamble. I buy mine from the man that makes the best repop of them all. He is a aircraft engineer and he sells them to all the vendors. i.e. Parts Place, Year One, CARS, ect ect He is a little cheeper being your buying from him and a really great guy to deal with. I will look up his info for you and PM you later today. Save yourself some $$$ and get the best from him. I know a few real GSX cars have his and if they are good enough for a 100K + real deal GSX it will work great for you.

I wouldn't bother with the aftermarket vent setups. None of them are anywhere close to correct and all look like crap.
Better off buying the correct vent filter off eBay, and putting setup together yourself.

Do you think that a vent line is even necessary? The car I'm having built is not gonna be a daily driver...

Also looking at some other threads on this forum it seems like the consensus is to build your own vent system.

    Thanks for the feedback Dean!

I believe some sort of vent/dryer system is desirable. The problem is condensation, not rain. You can't control that even if the car just sits in the garage. Mine is a few years old and I have had no problems so far. (and I was worried about it.)

So I just ordered the TPP hood tach and did not order the vent kit. My GS is garage kept and hardly driven do I REALLY need to get the kit?
