George, you may be right...I have an older SP1 and don't remember seeing one either.

I do not have one in front of me, but that is what I was led to believe. My motor is being built. I could call the builder and check. (Mine would be a brand new one.) You could always tap a spacer, or tap the back of the top of the plenum, lots of options in those pictures. Good luck.

    Regards, John.

Funny thing is that there is a AED 1000 HO carb on ebay brand new and i asked the seller if there are any ports on the carb and this was his response.

    "Hi,
    Thank you for your interest.
if you mean vacuum ports, yes it uses the std. Holley baseplate. "

Bingo!!Just got a reply back from AED this is what he wrote back regaurding if there are any ports on the 1000 HO.

    "Hi George
Yes there's a 3/8 tube in the back & also a small tube for straight manifld vacuum (for vacuum advance etc.). So you are covered. Let me know if we can be of any help.

I checked My SP1, it has the plug in the rear of the base.
would this be a better place for the PCV hose to go to?

Either place is the same. Full manifold vacuum. The large 3/8" port in the base of the carb is below the throttle blades so its full time vacuum too.

Help me out guys. I'm trying to use the port at the rear of the carb base in my SP1 manifold for the PCV valve vacuum.

The instruction sheet says the port is 1/4-18 thread, but no way a 1/4-18 hose nipple will fit.

I tried a 7/16-14 bolt and that fits, so I'm thinking that maybe I got an odball intake somehow.

Can anyone confirm that the hose nipple they are using at this port is a 1/4-18?

    Thanks.
