Just another thought. Maybe, just maybe, since what Erik is doing is for the benefit of ALL "NailHead" owners & dreamers some of us can kick in a few $$$$ to help along with the costs associated with all this. This of course is up to the intended recipient. If 50 of us came up with $10.00 each that would help to pay for at least one day. Much of what I have accomplished was with my own dime. What say ALL???????

The 350" guys are doing that....why not Nailheads too.

A paypal account could be setup to make it simple.

I support Toms idea of a donation to help Erik with the dyno costs. I am yet to rebuild my 425 but am grateful for the research, advice and effort that others have gone to, which I will no doubt benefit from.

I am happy to send $50.

(For me in NZ, Paypal is the easiest method if Erik has a Paypal account set up) or if not, I could possibly send money via Tom (with his approval) when I send him money this week.

I am also using an auto (ST400). No other flywheel is needed. The dyno hooks up to the output shaft of the crank. I did need the pilot bushing and bellhousing and am making up motor mounts to fit it like a Chebby. Gary would love to do a nail with a blower! Just give Gary a call at ERD. His information is all in my post. You should come take a tour of ERD.

Do I understand you correctly you have a set of TA roller rockers in your hand?

I appreciate your offers. That's very flattering. Believe me! I am way over my original budget and the testing hasn't even started yet!

Well, we have a start. $10.00 is not alot of money. Even $5.00 is a help. I know some just can't do it & we can all understand why. But just imagine the possibilities as I imagined the possibilities when I started on these "Rockers" in '99. A 100 people. 500 people. A 1000 people!!!!!!!! See where I'm comin' from??? Show your hands, your real interests, the willingness to help. Time to separate the dreamers & talkers & BS artists. If Erik wants to remain in the background I will surely forward ANYTHING sent to me on Erik's behalf. This needs to meet Erik's approval beforehand.

Erik do you have Paypal - This would make life easy for everyone involved.
I'm in for $20. Twenty bucks is an easy number to live with. Let's not just talk about it let's do it. We have a chance to get some solid numbers on our Nails.

Erik set up a paypal account. We can help.:TU:

this would be awsome, all be equal i believe the nail head would be a better platform then the typical 430-455 bigblocks

funny how the better engines in the buick lineup usualy get the shaft in the aftermarket department

good luck with donations and the dyno guys!
btw xs perf was wanting to do a procharger setup but felt there wasnt enough interest, try to prove them wrong so they'll make such a system :)

If a collection does get set up please send me a message. I'm in for $20. I would also like to thank you for sharing with the rest of us. If and when I have the chance to do some testing of my own, I will return the favor.

I have to get pullies for my project motor. Does anyone know if there are aftermarket ones out there that fit the 401? Are there any under drive performance pullies? I found where Hot Rodding Mag. machined small block ford pullies to fit. Has anyone tried any other pullies to get the under drive pully effects that are used for newer motors? I heard there were two different size water pump pullies can anyone confirm that?

An FYI for anyone out there with no dyno experience. I know from chassis dynos, no two are alike. So if you don't get the same #s as someone else on here don't be disappointed and assume something is wrong. Compare with 1/4 mile times for accuracy. Can someone with engine dyno experience put in their two cents?

    Ok...

You guys are something else! See why I like this board????

Yes, I do have a Paypal, and can post what it is, but before I do I also have a concern I want to address... Once I accept 1 cent from anyone, I am afraid the perception of some might be that my results could be swayed or "bought". The fact is, I wasn't ever looking to get this testing funded by backed by anyone. My #1 priority is that it is completely independant.

$20 sent via PAYPAL. . . Lets go guys! If we can pay for an extra day for Erik he will be able to accomplish so much on that Dyno. If you have a part for comparison (I saw someone had T/A roller rockers) get them to him, he does have almost everything set already. Of course check with him first!!!

Good luck Erik, we are counting on you- we know you'll keep it fair and objective, just take your time, hopefully we will ba able to afford you that! :beers2: :TU:

Doug; There is 2 sizes of water pump pullys. And there is a lot of difference between them.
Now in case any body is intresteed, I have designed and developed and have in my hand a undersized crank pulley. It is double grooved and made for a 1966 401 harmonic balancer.
I think that I can come up with the specs for it.
it is made from billet alluminum that is turned out on a cnc mill.

    Payment sent!

I did some track testing on my '66 GS back in the 1990's.
With the stock single Q-jet, the stock air cleaner with a new Fram element slowed me down 6 tenths and 6 mph over the basic 'open' style air cleaner!
    (14.3@93mph vs 13.6@99mph)
I made one run with no air cleaner at all, and picked up 0.02 sec and 0.15 mph.

The stock air cleaner even slows the car drasticly on the street. There is a trick where you flip the element up-side down to produce a gap around the top cover to let more air in. That would be interesting to track (or dyno) test.

Disconnecting the exhaust and adding 18" header extensions (my headers have 3" collectors) gave me 0.15 sec et reduction, and 1.4 MPH improvement,
    for a 13.48@100.4mph
On a good-weather day in Nov 1995, I ran my best-ever of 13.41@ 101.8mph. ....that was with a bog off the line!

I'm waaay overdue for some track time!

One of the best street mods I did was to modify the distributor from 4bbl to 2x4 specs...that really boosted the low-end.
Best of luck to you and your Nail on Dyno-day!:TU:
