Thanks You’re right, I could have also layed a little $3 flashlight in the street for that “we can’t make a finish line effect “
Sounds like something I would like. Do they show cars going down the track Or is it the stupid gopro inside the car camera angle?
On point! The problem with ALL reality TV is they feel the need to show DRAMA to keep the tweenie facebook generation engaged. If there ain't none they twist it around to show some I confess to watching the show when I can- beats most of the other reality crap on. I find some of the BS entertaining (apart from farmtruck & azn) Chuck and his spitting is disgusting. As to the spin off shows Memphis is amusing to a guy on the other side of the world and listening to the NOLA crew is hilarious to me (we even get subtitles ). Take it for what it is - entertainment
I have known some of the original Street Outlaws before they were on TV. I have been to OKC and visited their homes and shops. I consider some as friends. Some as associates. Racing was way different back then, without going into details. Now it has to be on a 'closed course' because of liability issues, etc. Some of the guys genuinely do not like each other, so the conflicts of the past get blown up on the show. Too much drama. I have helped bring several of the racers, both in OKC and elsewhere as customers at V.E.D.. Their financial status has changed dramatically. Most of them are great guys anyone would like to hang with. Some, whom I won't name, have become primi-donnas to put it nicely. They expect everything for nothing. When I watch No-Prep it's cool to see all the cars that are running V.E.D. parts.
That all sounds legit and I would agree with it with what I know. I just want to see the cars go down the track one time from start to finish. Of course the racers themselves don’t really want that since we could time them and then there No prep world would be compromised. I just can’t stand watching a view of the driver inside the car while the car is sliding sideways into a pile of firecrackers. It is a stupid way to show action.
You forgot to include the crowd with camera phone in the air, and the driver tweeting down the track. Whats that tell you about the people they're trying to keep watching?
I think they have some mean cars but as for the street part didn’t some of them try to do Hot Rod Drag Week and not finish? Also street racing as I remember it had zero trucks and trailers and ran the full quarter mile. Granted, most of the cars were not as quick as the cars are now. The good side is there’s burnouts and loud cars on TV!
Yes I know for sure Shawn in the murder nova tried and broke. Larry Larson and Jeff Lutz have both made it and won, and they're in the 5s in the 1/4 now. Prepped obviously.
I've never watched the show, but I can see the same problem with many others. Jumpy editing, pointless cuts and shots. Dizzying pans and zooms for no good reason.
No matter what else the show promoter requires, they will not 'throw a race'. The deal would have been off if they tried that. Fastest cars run in the low 4s/high 3s in the 1/8th. Bruders, Rich and Nick, and their engine builder, Tony DiSomma, are friends with us. French's Vixon Challenger is one car that runs V.E.D. parts. The show was getting stale for me with the same guys racing each other every week. Out of town racer shows were much better. I think many others agreed.
we went to jj's arm drop at barona (near san diego) a couple weeks ago, had a blast, place was completely packed, jj super nice guy.
I like the no prep kings has a bunch of racing, tree (no bang the light), different cars, no in your face crap about rules and blocking. BUT where is Murder Nova and Shawn?
