HELP..whie stuff!

    under my floor mat on drivers side only it is always damp and always has white, powerdy stuff all the time..i always clean it but always re-appears...what is this stuff???

    Kyle,

    You need to locate the source of moisture. Remove the front carpet and dry it out in the sun for a day or so. There are lots of places for water to enter your car so use a hose, with all the windows up and have a helper spray all around the front sheet metal and cowl area while you are inside the car looking for water coming in. The point of entry may be obvious when the carpet is removed.

    It is a fungi called powdery mildew. Stop the leak, replace the padding and carpet or lose the floorboards.

    Most common area for water to enter and cause your problem is the cowl seams from the front of the cowl to the base of windshield. The most likely seam will be the one that runs under the fender/hood junction. I would also remove the stainless windshield base trim and see if you have rust under it. Good luck!
