On the underneath of the console up by the tach are 2 studs that have nuts on them. Remove the nuts. The bottom of the top is held on by 2 slide in tabs. After you remove the nuts you can lift the top half of the console by the tach and them slide it toward the front of the car. Remove the shift ball and you can then lift it off the shifter. The bottom half is screwed to the floor pan. Pics are of a console that is out. You can see the studs, and what the bottom looks like. Don't try to pry it off as you will break the pot metal.

Ring attached to the floor is a different story. Not fun at all with those damn screws.

Speaking of the ring. There are two rubber boots that are in the console. One held by the ring, the other by the console. Both of mine are shot. Does anybody know a good source for those?

I am unaware of an exact repro. Try Fusick Olds for Olds repros.
