On a Buick station wagon/sportwagon - what holds the roof rack on? My question pertains to removing and replacing the roof rack - if you take it off are there capture nuts under the roof panel? Can you get it back on without distrubing the headliner?

There are things called "well nuts" basically a nut captured in a rubber bushing, that go into the roof. It took me a long time to find the right ones to replce them when I repainted my Sportwagon. Ultimately, an Ace Hardware ordered the right ones for me.

we used to use the same type of nuts on marine applications,,if you have a marina nearby you might try them also,if the hardware store doesnt have them,..

:Dou:  the well nuts stayed in place when i took my roof rack off, they have a bit of the rubber holding them up above the roof, and no-one wants their nuts to fail (just in case you might need them some other day) :Brow:
