  1. ok, I feel I have been taken advantage of, I am mad and ready to tell the rest of the story.

I had been talking back and forth with somebody who had a car I was interested in. in fact he had several for me to choose from. I felt comfortable asking this person questions and getting honest answers because he is probably the most well known person regarding these cars in the country at the moment. my first and biggest requirement was NO RUST and he was well aware of this. all our conversations were via typed messaging so I could be sure there were no misinterpretations or misunderstandings. and I still have all these messages. I was assured no rust, no pitting in any of the chrome or pot metal and straight bumpers, I questioned the misaligned front bumper in the pictures he provided and he stated it wasn't bent and just needed adjusted. I couldn't see the back of the car because it was in a bldg. against a wall. so even after being outright lied to by a trusted board member on my last car I took a leap of faith and sent $11000 to him for the car thinking I am buying a solid car that mechanically needs a control arm bushing and a steering coupler. a few days later I get a message, saying "I need you to call me" I'm thinking uh oh. since I have bionic ears I dont do well on phone and I also want all conversations in print so no misunderstandings. he tells me hew found a little rust in the trunk but it's not bad and so and so makes a great patch panel.. I am not at all happy and after thinking a little bit I message him back and request to unwind the deal since the car is still there and this is not what I paid for. he gets upset and says I cant.. finally with the understanding that it's just a little rust I ask for a price adjustment of -$500 which he agrees to. fast forward to today when vehicle arrives and they roll it off the trailer, I had to push it into the garage because the transmission was slipping horribly. upon initial inspection I found the "little bit of rust was a lot more than that, the entire trunk floor has been fiber glassed and painted and the trunk opening lip is rusty. pictures tell the story. I am sick to my stomach. all I wanted and thought I was getting was a solid car that maybe needed a few mechanical things addressed, I didnt even care about paint quality. I definitely wasn't looking to buy a restoration candidate.

    "Rust Free"

Whaaaaaaaat???!!! Are you sure he sent you the right car? Cause I know "rust free" has been convoluted at times, but DAYUM! Ray Charles could see the rust in that thing!!

Man, this is gonna get ugly.....

It already is ugly. VERY UGLY! Wow, that's a really sickening sight there. I feel bad for you Bob, all pumped up to see your new toy and then this. I can't believe you were told " found a little rust in the trunk but it's not bad". That's just bogus man.

Sounds like the seller got a case of guilty conscious. You are not in the wrong cancelling the deal. He misrepresented the item and then fesses up and the end of the deal.

Man, if that is the guy, then he knew what he sent you. That's disgusting. Someone with that many cars knows these inside and out. IF he's a board member then shame on him for this. You don't treat a Buick brother like this.

  15. I dont even want to look at it. all the pot metal was supposed to be pit free and i'm thinking that meant all the pits were free because it all has pits inside and out. the "perfect dash pad" has bubbles..

I'm sorry to say Bob, you effed up and trusted him. Should have gotten better, more detailed pics. Even then, pictures lie, ask me how I know. It sucks buying a car based on only an owners description and a few pics. I did it once and i'll never buy another car again unless I lay eyes on it myself. I really feel bad that car turned out to be more of a project than you were expecting. Really sucks man!:(

  17. it's official, Jimmy Shiels has told me to go pound sand. he says he did nothing wrong. his own words vs the car itself contradict that.. i'm flabbergasted.

Unfortunately this is why it's hard to buy vehicles over the internet. Fortunately there is usually a Buick guy not too far from almost any car that's up for sale here. You gotta ask around to see if someone can lay eyes and camera on the car. Now I know why he didn't want to cancel the deal. He oversold you the car by thousands of dollars and once he got it in his greedy little hands, he wasn't going to let go. And in the end you got screwed. I feel for you. Good luck. Unfortunately an attorney is your only course of action now and having bought the car like you did, your chances of getting your money back are pretty slim.
