Nice job. Its a tough choice, but I said the new design with some changes. Not sure about what the changes would be - I'm just sure there will be a little tweaking before its finished.

I really like the scrolling banner at the bottom, and guessed what to do, maybe a small comment on how to use it for people who've not spent too much time on the web.

When I click on the navigation bar, right before the page opens the section of the bar I click on shows part of a picture.

Oops! The designer changed it back to a black backgound. I have told him to change it back to a white background as it seems to be the concensus that white is better. I've told him to make a second page for changes until I approve them so you don't get confused.

I'll post again when the white page is back up. I've also decided that the 49 roadmaster can stay on the top left but the red wildcat (as much as like that car) can go to make room for the banner adds.

Ok it's back and it's white. Vic's implemented a few changes which I like. What do you think?

Yeah, me too Chris. Have you been in the last few minutes? It's changed a little. Namely, it's gone back to a white background but kept a black band across the top which keeps my need for black satisfied. Now I need to find a place for the v8Buick and and BPG banners to be displayed prominently on the front page .

i like the new site idea. the old one was too "busy" and with the black back ground looked kinda like something a novice would do [sorry,no offence]. besides, we get to see your smilin' mug! that always counts:beer as a plus!

Thanks... Though I'm sure I can find another better shot.

I was aware of the black site rule but had decided to go with black because the colours look brighter against a black background. However, regardless of my intention if it came across looking like a backyarder's site I missed my intent. So I'm happy to go with a white background if you guys think it will look better and it seems that you do.

All for the love of our Buicks Adam. Isn't that compensation enough?

    Bill -

I too like the second design (with the lighter background). Nothing is wrong with the initial website, but it's good to 'spruce' things up once in a while. Save all your old templates and you can always go back when the next 'revision' is in order.

PS - If I ever get a decent photographer (definitely NOT me), I'll get a couple good pictures of my GS and give you a shoprt article on my car. I'm surprised to see you don't have a 1970 Buick Street :( Hopefully, we'll change that this spring.

I think I better get a '70 BuickStreet before Marco comes and starts poking me in the forehead. Marco it might be possible for you to go back and delete these extra posts.

Me too. I got all excited that there was all this feedback. I laughed out loud too. Poor Marco. I'm sure he'll be shocked when he comes back on line and sees all this.

I'm told that the scrolling feature is hard on computers with less power than most. Anyone with an early computer (pre 1GHz) care to comment on how the new site runs? Also, how fast (or slow) is it on Dial-up? I have a fast machine and have broadband so it's difficult for me to tell how it will perform on slower machines.

I don't run a slow machine (2ghz), but I have and it seems the only thing that really bogs the computer is Flash...that stuff is like death to a 350! Most of the time, a reboot is required.

Interesting, I though that once flash loaded it was actually easier on the CPU than say...javascript or even plain Java.

    I was just thinking that...:Dou:

Java eats computers alive. And this is why the scroll bar kills dinosaur machines. I guess I took pretty good care of my old P200. It still runs with the best of them! Definitely can tell the difference, though.

Mmmm, the problem is that the small pics of the cars down the right hand sde of the old site where quite popular and I don't want to loose that concept. Vic just came up with that idea which I thought was quite good but not at the expense of performance.

    Critiques from a frequent visitor:

Make some tweaks to what you've got now.

-- I prefer the old site because of the UNIQUE look of the black background (don't mean that in the bad way where you don't want to insult the guy so you say something ambiguous when you really mean that it sucks), I really like it. The overall appearance works well.

-- I don't like the scroll bars being changed to the same color as the background, it doesn't make the page look bigger (if that's what you were going for?), just kind of awkward to navigate.

-- Too wide for 800x600 resolution. I don't know how you would change this, since I like all the content on the one page, but don't know how you would put it on a narrower field.

-- I like the text links on the left being clear as to where they take you, but I also like the thumbnail links on the right side. Keep both styles if you can.

-- The best feature of the site is the great mix of pictures AND text that appeals to both the "left brain" and "right brain" at the same time. I dunno, maybe you could add some pics of babesinbikinis to appeal to the "other" brain.:)

I'll keep checking out the site no matter what you decide. :TU:
