I'm getting the Turbo 350 trans in my 83 Cutlass built to withstand the power output of my 455. I ordered a Hays flexplate (490-15-075) and JEGS Street/Strip Torque Converter (555-60429) and my trans builder says he's having trouble bolting them up in the car. He says the converter's pads are touching the weight on the flexplate when he bolts it down. He's given me 2 options on how I can get around it, but they involve spending more money. I called JEGS and they said there shouldn't be any problem mounting the parts in the car. My biggest problem is that I'm in Texas and my car's back home in Georgia, so I can't actually see the problem. So do you guys have any advice on how I can fix this without breaking the bank again?

Very little grinding on the corner of the weight and the corner of the pad should get you the clearance you need.

Thanks for the help Buick. I ended up having to just send everything back to Jegs and get another stock flexplate and some no name converter w/o an anti-balloon plate and a 2500 stall, but it fits.
