So I’ve got myself a rover block and a pair of 64 300 heads.
I’m following the old school recipe - iron duke intake valves, Manley be exhaust and crane springs.
Best I can figure is that the ‘specified’ retainers and locks are rare as rocking horse ****. What else can I use??
Got to treat me as a novice here!
I have the crane springs (99849) but not the valves as I thought somebody might come up with a getter alternative.

    Thanks for the reply.
Not sure which valves you’re referring to as page 20 are sold in 8’s.
Could you point me in the right direction for the keepers and locks too?
    Much appreciated

He means the Buick V6 valves. Chris used Chevy 3.4 V6 valves in his 300 heads. You will need larger seats also. Years ago I used Ford 2.3 Sohc valves. Largest valves to fit 300 stock seats are 1.69IN and 1.39EX.

Do you know what retainers and locks to use?

What crankshaft/stroke are you going with?

Use the locks meant for the valves. The retainers and springs Chris used were Z28 SBC. Heads were machined out to 1.3 for the springs. Guides cut down for .530 Viton seals. You want to use steel shims or cups under the springs.
