    Hello,

I'm a long time lurker of this page, but now that I finally have a Buick V8 in the garage I figured I should introduce myself.

I'm Jon, and I've had an 86 GN for almost two years. In an effort to keep it's miles low and condition spotless, I've decided to start a new Buick powered project that can be driven whenever I want without feeling too bad about it.

I found a pretty rough 861 engine from intake to oil pan for $100. As I take it apart, its clearly been gone through before, but it sat for a long time after blowing a head gasket. As soon as I figure out how to get this piston un-seized from the cylinder, I'll be looking for a good machinist in the South/Central Indiana area. Let me know if you have any recommendations! Thanks

You may try soaking the cylinder in PB blaster, penetrating oil, spray.

Looks like you have your work cut out for you.

To get that out, clean/scrape/ brake clean as much as that gunk out as you can with it upside down then push the piston in so you can clean the lip that is there so the rings can pass through. Then soak with your favorite penetrating oil if it still doesn't want to move, 4 to 24 hours should be enough time for the oil to work if it is.

If it just doesn't want to move, you may need to cut the rod to be able to get the crank out of the way for the BFH Ford tool to pound it through the bottom. GL

Thanks everybody! I went back up to my parents in Lisle, IL for the weekend with the piston upside down soaking in PB blaster.

Does Fred still do engine work? I know he lives nearby, but I thought he was pretty much retired. How would I get in contact with him? Thanks
