If I were an automotive design engineer, I would put the heater core in the glove box, next to the transmission, the water pump, the starter, all the wiring and the fuel sender unit.
    Who needs gloves?
That's what pockets and armpits are for...

Mine only goes to defrost; I malpracticed myself when I had all apart 9 years ago. I better hurry up and fix it before I get too old.

I was able to get all 5 off my car without drilling the inner fender. I used a small curved wrench. Took a few minutes but was able to do it.

Now you got me thinking. Its been a few years since I did my last non AC heater core. I think I did the hole in the fenderwell trick on the last one. I have to go look at my Aquamist car and see.

What color is your stuck cable? I have one or two here that are nice.

I've yet to dig into it but know it's the top lever that controls the heat and defrost.

I thought was doable too. Not fun, but doable.

    Looks like a decent piece.

At least it's not Chinese junk. 20180317_173433.jpg 20180317_173509.jpg

I had mine checked at a shop to ensure its integrity. Checked out good.

I have a radiator shop near work. I'll drop it off next week and have him test it.

Just a word of advise on the reinstall, have a person under the hood to help you guide it in.

Did you have to bend either of the tubes at all to get it into the firewall?

You shouldn't have to do any bending, should slide right in. You know how that goes. :)
