Ill bet a lot of you are familiar with Reynolds Buick in West Covina, CA. Thats the dealership that, from the late-50s though the mid-70s was the Fastest Buick Dealer on Earth. The owner, Pete Reynolds, along with Pop Kennedy and Jim Bell, created a series of Buick drag racing cars that won many races, set records and became part of the Southern California racing lore of the era.

As it turns out, plans for a Reynolds Buick 100th Anniversary event, timed to take place later this year, are being drawn up as we speak. Well, as I type, anyway. Its too soon to be able to give you a date or even a complete list of activities, but under consideration are a car show, bar-b-que, possibly a poker run, and even a Buick Day (shared) event at a Southern California drag strip. If were really lucky, we may even be able to test drive a new Turbo Regal.

This event isnt exactly cast in stone yet, but considering that Jim Bell, Dave Benisek, Bruce Kent and the Reynolds Buick crew are involved in kicking it off, it sounds like a pretty sure thing to me. Obviously, it takes more than big names in the world of Buick performance to ensure that this event will be a success. That is, it will take some participation of Buick clubs, and Buick fans in general to make this a go.

When I say participation, I dont mean a lot of effort from you guys during planning, set-up, etc. What I really mean is getting your Buick friends, clubs, fans, etc. together and attending the event when it does materialize. After all, this would be a perfect candidate for a Buick club event, wouldnt it?

For now, though, keep your eyes and ears open for further announcements from official sources.

    Whoa there-

This year's only ninety-six. But we've been thinking about 100 and I promise we'll do something special, and hopefully it will involve a whole lot of you.

We'll let you all know in plenty of time.

Re: CORRECTION Re: Reynolds Buick 100th Anniversary Event

OK... Heres the latest information on the planned Reynolds Buick 100th Anniversary event that I announced a couple of months ago: Were going to have to wait for another four years to take part in it!

Thats right! This year will only be the 96th anniversary of the dealership and, as far as I know, theres nothing special going on to celebrate it. Yes, Im sorry to say, there was a misinterpretation of the information somewhere along the line. Im not exactly sure where, but the end result was I got excited and spread the word a little bit too early.... About four years too early.

So, I really am sorry for spreading erroneous information out to all of you. Ill do a better job of making sure Ive have the information right next time before trying to stir everyone up about it.

Ill tell you what Ill do to make up for it, though: Ill be sure to announce the event sometime in the year 2015 when I find out exactly when its planned to take place. Hows that?

    Humbly yours,

As the Reynolds webmaster, I can assure you that there will be a 96th Anniversary Open House in October and that all the So Cal Folks will be most welcome. But it won't quite be the humdinger that we're planning for the 100th.

I'll keep you up to date on both, I promise! You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter for fun daily Buick related news and updates.
