Hi all you wonderful Buick people

I am trying to find out whether my parts are 455, 455 GS or 455 Stage 1 parts:

    Heads: 1231786 (large intake/exhaust)
    Carb: 7042242 (what size cfm?)
    Intake: 1238323

    Thanks

Heads: 1231786 (large intake/exhaust) 1970 cylinder heads have the same casting number whether they are Stage1 or not. Stage 1 had 2 1/8" intake and 1 3/4" exhaust valves.

Carb: 7042242 (what size cfm?) That is a 1972 455 Stage 1 carburetor. It is 800 CFM. Valuable.

    Intake: 1238323 1972 455 California Intake.

yes the heads have the big valves, are they valuable
and i take it the intake is nothing special?

Being the heads are Stage1, they are more valuable than small valve heads.

Yeah, the intake is nothing special unless someone is doing a concourse correct restoration.

The carburetor is probably the most valuable part you have there. There were only 728 Stage1 GS cars built in 1972.

    Thanks Larry
Carb: 7042244, is that the GS 350 carb and is it a 750cfm?

Correct. All carburetors meant for the 350 were 750 CFM. The difference is in the largest venturi. In the chart I posted, the 350 carburetors had 1 3/32" venturi, and the 455 carburetors had 1 7/32" venturi.

Just to add to the carb info: Just make sure its not a Service Replacement carb. Need the other numbers to be sure.

what other numbers would indicate a service replacement?

The date code is next to the carb code.
I have a stage1 carb on my '71 but the date code is 0128. 12th day in '78. Some time in '78 the carb was replaced at the dealership. Making it a Service Replacement.

I could use the carb for my 72 Stage 1 if you would be interested in selling it.
