I'm replacing everything in the brake system. As a precautionary measure, I'm moving the proportioning valve back about 4" rearward. I have a new reman booser/mstr cyl and I stopped at NAPA today and bought new brake in the correct tube sizes, but the fitting(nut) size is totally different. I'm also installing a line lock also. I've been to every auto parts joint and can't find any reducers to step up to the proper inlet size on the master cylinder and proportioning valve. I think Home Depot only carries pipe thread so that's out. I thought about reusing the old nuts from the old lines and reflaring but one of the nuts is "borderline". I know some of you guys have run into this so what do you recommend? :Do No:

    Rh,

You should get the F-body set-up from www.classictube.com
Much easier and faster. It will locate the prop valve by the master cylinder.

No, the F-body set-up for you A-body set-up is from the 70-81 Camaro/Firebird which mounts the prop valve next to the master cylinder.
Visit www.classictube.com and they will list it as an alternative. I know I have seen it but I don't know the part number.

I remember Poop Boys carried short pieces of steel line with the larger GM style fittings on one end. I think they referred to them as "adapter lines" They were made by Raybestos and they were kept next to the regular steel lines. You could buy them and then just use the fitting. The Raybestos book should list just the fitting by itself. Getting them to actually look it up and order it for you is another story.

After trips to two different NAPA's, Carquest and AZ, I found the inverted flare adapters at Advance Auto. Took about an hour of digging thru all the ones they had but I even got adapters for my line lock.
