The repairs to the car have been completed. What a nightmare of a roller coaster it's been. When the car was initially hit, I knew this was going to be a nightmare. It started off rough, then looked promising, was getting better, then got worse and the last few weeks there were some rather disappointing developments. Could Chuck have handled the situation better - absolutely. Could this whole incident have been worse - definitely. Could this whole incident have been better - yep. But in the end Chuck and I came to an agreement (read $$$) and now I will move on to getting the entire car repainted. This includes the panels that were repaired and painted from the accident. I was in Detroit this past Monday to look at the car and drop off some rust free sheetmetal. If I didn't tell you the car was hit you couldn't tell from the outside. Obviously the car is never going to be the same, but it's as good as it's going to get. Now it will get a fresh coat of paint and lots of issues will be corrected. It's not going down completely to bare metal as I'm already well into that with my W-31 not to mention I fear what may be found in a few areas, but it will be a real nice driver quality paint job. Most importantly it'll be all one shade of red :TU: As we all know the mightaswells will start to kick in. New door weatherstripping, door and trunk bumpers, quarter window seals, door and qtr window sweeps, complete decal kit so now the strip on the side will be correct. I get to install my NOS emblems I've been accumulating too. Also kicking around buying a new package tray as the rear window is coming out since the buytl is all dried up and the rear window leaks. The current plan is the car will be done the beginning of December for me to pick up, which gives me time this winter to do several things (that is when I'm not assembling the W-31). A big thank you to those that have offered help during this situation. And also to my wife for putting up with me as I didn't take this to well. Now I get to move on to the stress of the W-31 frame off and getting ANOTHER car painted. Chris
Chris.....I will be happy to see you back in the car....the ordeal is almost over :TU: Soon you'll be doing what you love to do.
Well, so much for that Dec date. The guy doing the work had a busy winter with insurance work. Today, I was given an update. FINALLY, some color!!!!! I'm also in the process of acquiring some additional parts not listed in the initial post to make the car more complete and correct. Lastly, I did end up getting a new package tray from Legendary when I made my interior order for the W-31.
