Even if the white car does bring $50K it's still a better deal than the yellow one, in my opinion. Not to mention the fact that you can drive it right now.
YES YES YES....the choice is an easy one. If you really want an X, be smart, save up and patiently wait for something like this nice original. Don't get caught up in the frenzy and do something stupid. ou:
Buy Now Sorry but I disagree, buy whatever you can afford to now because in a few years you will have to sell your house to buy a GSX. Lets face it how much was this car worth 5 years ago 2500? I challange everyone that is saying this car is to much money to find me a GSX that is decent for under 30k, or even another train wreck like this for under 15K. If you do I'll buy it, I will even let you make a profit on the car or pay a finders fee. I know how hard it is to find one of these cars for sale reguardless of condition. It took me over two years!
From the Q&A on the listing it "appears" Henry White will check it out. If Henry can verify the "numbers" then that would be a good sign. As for being a "salvage title" depends what happened when the insurance company processed the paperwork. In "some" states, you can rebuild a car and have it inspected and the "salvage" will be removed from the title. I have seen where one car was "salvage" because the idiot adjuster did not know what he was doing. Turned out, car had a dented qtr panel and bent axle shaft. Was an easy fix and a deal for the buyer because he cleared the title.
Here in WA they don't brand the title of older cars with "Salvage", only newer ones, and that hasn't been going on for very long. So this car probably wouldn't have any notations on the title in this state. I thought the marking of titles with "Salvage" was fairly recent, as a reaction to the public uproar over people buying wrecked cars and re-selling them without disclosing that fact? This car was totalled 25 years ago, were they marking titles then? I know they weren't in this state.
If someone was hung up on the salvage title you could get a clean one from Broadway Title Service for around 80 dollars. In mass if you dont have a title for a car or a old registration they tell you to crush the car because the wont let you register it, so if you pull a car from a barn or junkyard Broadway is the only choice.
I guess what I'm trying to say is...you don't have to work as hard to own a nice GSX...the QQ car currently for sale on ebay is either for those who don't concern themselves with money or those who don't full understand what it will take to put this one back on the road. To me this car looks a lot like work "No Fun" plus, there are much easier ways to make $.
And you guys thought I was crazy! 25K for a rotted and smashed GSX I'm glad I already own one.
Stage-x almost had it Mark, thanks for not letting some of us down. As you know, others where wondering where you were...... http://offer.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=4555374336
Wow!!!!!!!!! I can't believe the QQ car went for that much considering the shape that it's in! Makes me appreciate my gsx even more.
I don't believe that car was as bad as most think......Nothin an off frame resto wouldn't cure  I have restored worse cars and have a list of customers wanting Yellow X cars....Primarily Stage 1 cars. Pay close attention as these cars will continue to outpace most others in value. The 70 coupe at Barrett-Jackson was JUNK and brought over 20 grand because it had Stage1 emblems. Oh, work has started on the Motion car.
My 70 GSX QQ Stage 1 Auto. no-air car #s matching This is getting out of hand!!! I bought my X back in 1990 and finished restoration in 2003. I just bought it because it was a Buick GS/GSX and I was brought up on Buicks back in the 60's. I know our X's are rare and worth some good bucks but to hear all this $100,000 talk is scary! I am getting afraid to drive it anymore! Is there an end to these prices? :eek2:
Hey Eric drive your car as much as you can, if you total your car you know you can collect the insurance money and buy the car back. Then you can list it on ebay and you will get at least 25k for it but probably more considering your car runs and has an interior o yeah and it not ROTTED either.
